October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month. Sudden cardiac arrest happens when the heart suddenly stops pumping blood effectively. A person may collapse, become unresponsive and stop breathing normally.

If that happens, call 911, begin CPR and use an AED as soon as one is available. Quick action by someone nearby can help bridge the time until EMS arrives.

This month, we will share practical reminders to help Erie-area workplaces, schools and community organizations prepare.
