Draco Update: SM Energy/Extraction Oil & Gas has filed two new ECMC hearing dockets (numbers 260900242 and 260900243) for the amended drilling and spacing units (DSUs) for Draco. Approval of these DSUs will be required before drilling can begin at Draco. These will most likely get hearing dates in early 2027, unless the commission expedites them. Stay tuned for updates.

In their own Plain Language Summary for the Bayberry OGDP (the 12-well expansion proposed for the Nelson 28-35HZ pad here in Frederick) Kerr-McGee argues their drilling operation could bring "beneficial impacts for wildlife," including "temporary perches and wind blocks for avian species provided by production infrastructure."

That's just offensive. They're calling well pad equipment a wildlife amenity.

A drilling rig is not a bird sanctuary, and regulators shouldn't let narratives like this pass without pushback.

"A citizen-led referendum challenging Erie’s controversial mineral rights agreement cleared its first major hurdle Tuesday after the Town Clerk determined the petition contains enough valid signatures to continue through the referendum process.

The petition required 1,399 valid signatures from registered Erie voters. In an initial statement of petition sufficiency, Town Clerk Debbie Stamp determined the petition contains more than 1,533 valid signatures, triggering the next phase of the process—a statutory protest period before the Town issues a final determination."

Chevron is planning 40 new oil & gas wells just outside Brighton, in a community already flagged by the state as Disproportionately Impacted.

Heads up Adams County! Chevron is proposing a new OGDP called "Cord Federal" near Hwy 85 and E-470 on the southwestern edge of Brighton.
