The Department of Community Engagement builds the mission-based collaborative capacity of the institution by fostering a mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources between stakeholders through various relationships and partnership reciprocities. Community engagement is an institutional steward of excellent opportunities for learning and serving beyond the gates of the university.

Yesterday, some BTGers volunteered at the PA Soldiers’ & Sailors’ home in long-term care and helped residents get to their Happy Hour event 🍺 Students talked with residents and helped them enjoy the event.

Another group of students volunteered at the Mercy Anchor Community Center at the food pantry, helping clients bag items, answer questions, and collect food for their families. 🥬

Thank you to both our community partners and students who participated in the Involvement Fair yesterday! Meeting those who are out serving in the Erie community helps put a face to an organization. At Mercyhurst, being socially merciful isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we put into action.

One Wednesday each month, Mercyhurst staff gather at Emmaus Soup Kitchen to serve our Erie neighbors a hot, homemade meal.

Because serving others is more than an act of kindness. It’s a commitment to the community we call home.

We rise by lifting others. We serve because we are socially merciful. 💚
