Biomechanical data reveals that the impact force of jumping and landing en pointe ranges from 2.5 to over 4 times your total body weight (and can reach up to 10 to 12 times your body weight at the extreme moment of a single-leg impact).

To get good at hopping en pointe, students must build ankle stability, glute, hamstring, and quadricep strength… they must also master the correct "pulled-back" foot alignment rather than pushing all the way over the box of the shoe to prevent injury.

International Ballet Stars and the We Dance Program will be presenting Swan Lake at Erie’s historic Warner Theatre on Tuesday February 16, 2027.

There will be a Community Open Audition at the host studio, Patterson School of Ballet, on Sunday October 11 from 5:00-6:00 PM for students ages 5 and Up!

This is a wonderful opportunity for local students to participate in a professional production alongside over 45 professional dancers. Professional Ballet Dancer and Audition Director, Mr Artem Yachmennikov and The Artistic Coordinator of the Program will help prepare them for their debut alongside the International Ballet Stars company of professional dancers from over 12 countries!

Schedule: (Dance experience required)
5:00-5:20 PM - Ages 5–9
5:20-5:40 PM - Ages 9–13
5:40-6:00 PM - Ages 13+

There is a 25.00 Audition Fee for those who Pre-Register and 35.00 for those on the day of the audition.

Classical ballet instruction teaches students, discipline and perseverance, because progress in ballet is incremental. Serious training teaches you to work consistently on something even when improvement isn’t immediately visable.

Attention to detail is taught through slow, methodical movements, because small adjustments- turn out, weight placement, épaulement, port de bras, and timing/accents in the music- can substantially change the quality of a movement.

At the Patterson School Of Ballet our students don’t just dream of being a dancer, that they have the technical ability and training to pursue a professional career at some point if desired, but more importantly learn that anything worth having in life is worth the work it takes to achieve it.
