💙💛 October is National Principals Month!💛💙

Today, (and every day) we celebrate our five incredible principals who lead Erie Catholic schools with heart, faith, and an unwavering commitment to their calling as educators.

Being a principal means wearing countless hats, doing hard things, celebrating milestones, and showing up each day for students, families, and staff.

Most of what they do happens quietly and behind the scenes — but the impact of their leadership is felt throughout our schools.

To our Erie Catholic principals: THANK YOU.
For loving your schools, your students, supporting your staff, and answering the call to lead. We are incredibly grateful for each of you! 💙💛

Remembering Elizabeth “Betty” Schessler 💙

For many former students, Mrs. Schessler was more than a teacher—she was someone who made learning exciting and school memorable.

Mrs. Schessler, who passed away peacefully on September 25 at the age of 78, dedicated much of her life to education, including teaching at Mount Calvary and St. George Catholic Schools. Her passion for science extended beyond her own classroom as she helped create programs for the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) programs for students.

But science was only one part of what she shared. Mrs. Schessler was involved in Girl Scouts, played piano and guitar, and organized school musicals and plays—leaving her mark on countless moments her students would carry with them long after leaving her classroom.

Now, we would love to hear your memories of her!

Did Mrs. Schessler teach you or your children? Was there a science lesson, school play, song or simply a moment with her that you still remember? Please share it in the comments or send us a private message. We would be honored to collect these memories and pass them along to her family.

Our prayers are with her husband, Peter, their children and grandchildren, and all who knew and loved Mrs. Schessler. May she rest in the eternal arms of our Lord.💙 We love you, Betty.
