Did you join in with Dry January?
If you did well done – whether you were drinking daily, once a week, only at weekends, or whatever your drinking pattern looked like, any changes in habit are not easy.
So, what's next for you?
Do you feel like you've achieved your goal of a dry January and ready for those drinks in February? Or did you see some benefits in January and thinking about setting a new target – maybe 90 days, maybe a dry February.
Now is the time to reflect on this BEFORE we head into February.
For me I had always been a middle lane drinker, occasional drink in the week, more maybe on a Friday and Saturday – but I didn't have a “problem” with alcohol. But back in September 2019, to assist me in reaching some personal health and fitness goals following some self-development, I decided to take a break from alcohol. And wow! I lost nothing and gained so much. Then, during the early days of COVID and lockdown I decided to moderate, but over the last 3 years I have taken the learning, and my choice is now to be completely alcohol free. One day I will write a blog around this!
But today I wanted to prompt / encourage those who did Dry January to reflect on some things?
· What benefits have you seen from not drinking?
· What have you gained during January?
· Have you started anything new that you wouldnt have done whilst drinking
So, sharing some of my benefits of not drinking – have you seen any of these or others during January?
· More energy, mojo, vitality
· Improved health, generally fitter
· Better sleep
· Calmer, less anxiety
· More confident
· Willingness to try new things and fail and try again
· Greater awareness of the effect of alcohol
· Awareness on impact on heartrate
· Performance at work
· Consistency at work and at home
· Nourishing my body better
· Improved finances
· Feel more authentic
The purpose of this post is just to encourage those who did Dry Jan to reflect on it – it could be the start of a new adventure where you set some exciting personal goals/fulfil your potential/unlock your best self, where alcohol does not play a part.
If you would like to continue this alcohol-free journey and would like any additional support, accountability, one to one coaching please contact me – happy to help myself or provide links to others I admire in this space.
I intend to make 2024 a year to remember (rather than a blur) with lots of exciting achievements – what is your plan?
