Dino Coaching with Diane Capon

Dino Coaching with Diane Capon Hello and welcome to my page. I am Diane Capon, married with 2 grown-up children and 2 grandchildren. I love learning! Want to unlock your potential? If yes?

I live in Suffolk, England, and have a passion for walking, dancing, freddos, and all things related to self-development. I have worked within the corporate world for 40 years, leading high-performing teams. 18 months ago, I was feeling a bit ‘stuck’, at a crossroads in my life and wanted to find more meaning and purpose. Through my self-development with a wonderful online Andy Ramage-led communit

y and coaching I have become happier and healthier with real meaning in my life. I will no longer let my limiting beliefs hold me back from taking steps to becoming the best version of myself and working toward my goals. I have recently completed a double-accredited (ICF and AfC) Positive Psychology Coaching Diploma. I am also a qualified Alcohol-Free Coach and a Mental Health First Aider. Dino Coaching is named after my primitive ‘chimp’ brain – that little voice in my head that works with my emotions and feelings. I called my chimp ‘Dino’ as I visualise him as a primitive baby dinosaur. Dino wants to keep me safe and help me survive and has served me well but through coaching, I have learned how to tame my chimp so that I can optimise my life.

• Are you feeling stuck?

Do you ever have goals you want to achieve but it doesn't quite happen?

In February and March I will be running some in person and on line sessions about identifying what you want in 2025 and then a plan to achieve it. And turning those into a vision board.
This could be for specific parts of your life or quite generic.

We will explore
What has worked in the past
Your values and strength. What is important to you and what are you good at.
What you have struggled with
What you can do differently
Then breaking down a specific goal and crushing those limiting beliefs
Exploring barriers to success
And so much more.

I am authentic and sharing my vision for 2025.

I'd love to help you reach your dreams. Please get in touch if you are interested in workshops on this or one to one coaching.

Hi. I am a qualified life coach and I am thinking about running some in person vision/dream board group workshops in January. Probably in Saxmundham or certainly in vicinity of Saxmundham.

See idea below.

I want to gauge interest before I book venues and dates.
I am thinking 2 hour workshops either weekday morning or evening or weekend morning.

There would be a minimal charge enough to cover hiring room, tea coffee and some basic craft materials.

Please could you let me know if you are interested and preferred time for workshop

If there is enough interest I'll get them set up and share how to book your place.

Thank you.

Its pancake day!
I love analogies!

Hit me with your "pancake" analogies ... around goal setting, wellbeing, behavioural change.. anything self development related :)

Food for thought...

Are you more crepe or pancake?

Are you tossing your pancake into the air and then fingers crossed 🤞hoping it will land?

Everyone has their own ways of making a pancake... same as we find our own unique way to reach our goals.. find your own way

The first pancake.. is unlikely to be the best. It could be lumpy, doughy, burnt, sticky. but with practice, they will get better. That first pancake isn't a fail. it's First Attempt In Learning. And you have to get that first pancake out of the way.

Love to hear your pancake analogies :)

Did you join in with Dry January?

If you did well done – whether you were drinking daily, once a week, only at weekends, or whatever your drinking pattern looked like, any changes in habit are not easy.

So, what's next for you?

Do you feel like you've achieved your goal of a dry January and ready for those drinks in February? Or did you see some benefits in January and thinking about setting a new target – maybe 90 days, maybe a dry February.

Now is the time to reflect on this BEFORE we head into February.

For me I had always been a middle lane drinker, occasional drink in the week, more maybe on a Friday and Saturday – but I didn't have a “problem” with alcohol. But back in September 2019, to assist me in reaching some personal health and fitness goals following some self-development, I decided to take a break from alcohol. And wow! I lost nothing and gained so much. Then, during the early days of COVID and lockdown I decided to moderate, but over the last 3 years I have taken the learning, and my choice is now to be completely alcohol free. One day I will write a blog around this!

But today I wanted to prompt / encourage those who did Dry January to reflect on some things?

· What benefits have you seen from not drinking?

· What have you gained during January?

· Have you started anything new that you wouldnt have done whilst drinking

So, sharing some of my benefits of not drinking – have you seen any of these or others during January?

· More energy, mojo, vitality

· Improved health, generally fitter

· Better sleep

· Calmer, less anxiety

· More confident

· Willingness to try new things and fail and try again

· Greater awareness of the effect of alcohol

· Awareness on impact on heartrate

· Performance at work

· Consistency at work and at home

· Nourishing my body better

· Improved finances

· Feel more authentic

The purpose of this post is just to encourage those who did Dry Jan to reflect on it – it could be the start of a new adventure where you set some exciting personal goals/fulfil your potential/unlock your best self, where alcohol does not play a part.

If you would like to continue this alcohol-free journey and would like any additional support, accountability, one to one coaching please contact me – happy to help myself or provide links to others I admire in this space.

I intend to make 2024 a year to remember (rather than a blur) with lots of exciting achievements – what is your plan?

I love having a goal. But a goal alone isnt enough. A goal needs action. Steps taken towards reaching that goal. Accountability. Then anything is possible. Taking action allows us to turn dreams into reality.

We talk about goals or targets in the workplace but setting personal goals are just as important. They allow us to grow. At work we talk about SMART goals. Specific Measurable Achievable Relevant Time Bound. With my personal goal setting I don't like the A for achievable.
It stops me thinking big, what is to say I couldn't achieve anything I wanted with the right dedication, support, time, commitment, focus.

We can overestimate what we can achieve in a year and underestimate what we can achieve in 10 years.

So for 2024 what personal goal will you set?

I wish you all a year ahead of personal discovery, the courage to walk toward what scares you, and away from that which isn’t serving you.

Well done Netflix for depicting the true story of Diana Nyad and her quest to swim 110 miles over open water, without the use of a shark cage
Well worth watching and a great reminder

We should never give up
We are never too old to chase our dreams
It looks like a solitary sport but it takes a team

What's your dream? What steps can you take to reach it?

What action will you be taking this month to take you closer to your dreams?

Today is world mental health day.

Our mental health affects our overall wellbeing and our overall wellbeing affects our mental health.

How is your mental health today?
I like to use this simple scaling guide against 6 pillars of wellbeing to "check in" with myself.

In very simple terms ..Scale 1 to 10 with 1 being really not great and 10 being fantastic.

Hows my.... today?

Sleep
Movement
Connection
Nutrition
Quiet Time
Clear Thinking

I then use the scores to think about one small action I can take today to boost one of those pillars up a notch.

Why not have a go yourself? Get curious about your own wellbeing.

If you'd like to know more about the 6 pillars of wellbeing and support with improving any one of these please reach out.

Feeling a bit anxious?

Wanting to find a moment of calm in a busy day?

I love this visualisation for some mindful breathing..

Smell the roses...deep breathe in through the nose, blow out the candle..slow long breathe out through the mouth... and repeat.

Let me know if it helps x

If doing with a child you could suggest they visualise blowing bubbles through a wand.
