Engineering is not just one major.
There are 10 major branches—mechanical, civil, electrical, aerospace, biomedical, chemical, industrial, environmental, computer, and manufacturing—and 25+ specialties total. The branch you choose shapes your classes, your internships, and your career path, so it's worth knowing what each one actually does.
Before choosing a program, look for ABET accreditation, strong internship connections, and whether the specialty fits the kind of problems you actually want to solve.
Comment "ENGINEERING" and tell us which branch interests you most—we'll point you toward California schools and next steps.
