Meet Emmy G. Now a 6th grade honors student, she has been a student at RSM San Fernando Valley for the past three years. This year, Emmy earned a Certificate of Achievement in AMC 8 and scored in the Top 25% nationally. She also won a Gold Medal in the IMC, received Honor Roll and Team Winner recognition in the Noetic Learning Math Contest (Spring), and earned a Gold Pin in MOEMS Division E, placing in the Top 2% and achieving the highest individual score.
Emmy has been deeply impacted by her experience at RSM. She has learned a tremendous amount of math and enjoys the challenging material and fast-paced environment. She especially appreciates the teachers, who have made learning both engaging and rewarding while encouraging her to push herself further.
What Emmy loves most about math is that every problem has a solution, even if it takes persistence and creative thinking to find it. She enjoys the process of working through difficult problems and discovering the answer.
Math competitions have also been a highlight of her experience. Emmy enjoys the challenge they provide and finds it rewarding to tackle complex problems that require deep thinking and perseverance.

“Tonight we are recognizing awards, scores, and competition achievements . But more than that, we are celebrating a mindset.” — Olga Voronel, RSM Southern California Regional Director. At our End-of-the-Year Award Ceremony and Math Festival, we celebrated far more than medals, trophies, and test scores. We celebrated passion, talent, perseverance, growth, hard work, and patience. Most importantly, we celebrated our incredible students and everything they have accomplished this year. We also recognized the teachers who inspire and guide their students every day, and the parents whose encouragement and support make every achievement possible. Together, we celebrated a community that continues to grow bigger, stronger, and closer with each passing year. We have countless reasons to celebrate, and we are grateful to everyone who makes our community so special and may the Math Force be with us!

When your child was learning to walk or talk, they likely stumbled and tried again hundreds of times before they succeeded. But during those early attempts, you probably never thought, “Walking just isn’t their thing,” or “Maybe talking isn’t for them.” You understood that these skills develop through practice, patience, and encouragement.

Mathematics works in much the same way.

Mathematical thinking grows with practice. With the right guidance, encouragement, and opportunities to struggle productively, most children can develop strong problem-solving skills and confidence in math.
