Alumni Spotlight: Alicia Souder MED'10 C'05 was named Frederick County Public Schools Teacher of the Year for 2025-26—a reminder of the powerful impact the graduates of the Mount's Anthony F. and Alice G. Agnone School of Education have in our communities.

Alicia, who is a Literacy Specialist at Parkway Elementary School in Frederick, MD, has built a career around researching new ways to help children learn to read.

“I fundamentally believe that every child has the right to a high-quality education,” she said. “That's why I love my job; it’s a way I can continue my own professional knowledge and spread that to my colleagues to cast a wider net so that children learn to read."

Mount St. Mary's University has been listed on Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society's 2026 Transfer Honor Roll, recognizing institutions that have demonstrated exceptional success in creating pathways that help community college transfer students earn bachelor's degrees.
According to PTK, the Transfer Honor Roll evaluates institutions on five dimensions that matter most to community college transfer student success, including campus friendliness, financial aid, acceptance of transfer credits, campus life, and success rates for transfer students.
The Mount was one of the 275 four-year colleges and universities to make the Transfer Honor Roll list.
