🌳 REC Students Give Back to Their Campus! 🌳

In partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation, the City of Eminence, and Howell Oregon Electric, our REC program participated in an exciting tree-planting project on the elementary playground!

These trees will provide much-needed shade for students and staff while also adding beauty to our campus. REC students learned the proper way to plant trees of this size, including how heavy machinery is used for digging, moving, and placing trees, as well as returning soil around them. Students also worked hard to spread mulch around each tree.

As an added bonus, MDC provided plum and redbud trees for each student and staff member to take home and plant in their own yards! 🌱

Thank you to MDC, the City of Eminence, and Howell Oregon Electric for making this a meaningful and successful community partnership project!

🎪✨ REC Students Learn About Kindness! ✨🎪

This week, REC students enjoyed a fun and meaningful program presented by MU Extension 4-H Youth Development Specialist, Emily Doosing, and her assistant, Professor Ralphie!

Through a clown-inspired program, students explored the importance of good character, with a special focus on kindness. Activities included balloon animals, magic tricks, ring toss games, dancing, and so much more! 🎈🎩

Thank you, Ms. Emily, for bringing such an engaging and impactful experience to our REC students! 💛

🍦 REC Students Visit Dairy Shack!

On Friday, March 20, REC students enjoyed an exciting and hands-on visit to the Dairy Shack! Students toured the inside of the restaurant, learning how everything works—from the grill and fryers to how the front machines operate. They also learned what it takes to get the day started behind the scenes.

Students had fun stepping into the role of workers by helping clean tables outside, and to top it all off, they got to create their own ice cream treats!

It was a fun and educational experience that gave students a real look at how a local business runs each day. 🍦✨

🧼 Hands-On Learning at REC! 🌿

On Friday, March 6, 2026, REC students had the opportunity to make lye soap with Josh Chilton from the Park Service. Students learned about the soap-making process and how this traditional skill was used in the past.

It was a great hands-on experience that connected history, science, and practical skills!

On Friday, March 6, 2026, REC students participated in a Hunter Safety class. We are proud to share that all 7 students successfully completed the class and passed the exam! 👏

Congratulations to these students for their hard work and for learning the importance of safe and responsible outdoor practices. Great job!

We can't wait to see our Redwings Families at our Spring Title I Family Fun Night!

We'll begin at 5:30 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria and this event is for all students PreK - 12th grades. Come enjoy various stations so families will be able to experience everything.

On Wednesday, February 11, REC students had fun making their own Valentine boxes! Students showed off their creativity with colorful designs and festive decorations, getting ready to collect lots of Valentine cards and treats.

On Friday, February 6, REC students enjoyed a field trip to the Texas County Library! Students explored the library, discovered new books, and learned more about the wonderful resources available in our community.
