Season ended well. Took this 141lb doe and good boar in the last few days. Three does and six hogs total for the season. I lost a good buck I’d never seen before to a high hit(he dropped like a rock on a 25yd shot) All in all a good season.

Went to scout this morning and just after Grey light as I was slipping into an oak ridge this guy came walking out of the brush down the draw right to me. At 10-12yds he saw me and spun to run up the ridge. He paused for split second unsure of what he’d seen and by that time my arrow had already severed everything going into his heart. He tan maybe 12yds and was dead in mere seconds. Always impressive to see how effective an arrow is at killing game. This was not a large boar in terms of his body but his cutters were huge. 5th hog of the season, 64th with a tradbow.

First deer of the season. 148lbs, 5.5yrs old, long story but I shot her in the leg last year. Cut her across the front of the leg at the brisket. Scar was there well healed up and she was healthy as any other deer. This time I shot her quartering away. She spun away at the shot making me hit several inches back. However it happened so quick I thought I put the arrow perfect(would have been if she had not spun). She ran 60yds and bedded. I waited an hour and found her still alive. So I had to make another hard quartering away shot. She jumped up and ran maybe 150yds further before dying. Incredible considering first shot was liver and gut … and I’ll show you what the second shot looked like tomorrow. 😳😳 bow hunting is a game of inches and angles.

Christmas would not matter if Easter never happened because Jesus would have been just another man if He never came back out of the grave. The manger is meaningless without the cross and an empty tomb. This weekend is significant because it is the reason humanity has any hope at all.

Just realized I’ve not posted anything on this page in months. All deer season actually. Busy schedule, changing priorities, etc. etc. but I did kill a doe in January from a ground blind with my longbow. It was a rough season but still Always a fun time!

I love everything about bow hunting. It keeps me connected to life cycles and relationships between species. It keeps me observant and aware. When I allow it, It helps connect me to the source of my life, Jesus Christ. The bow is a constant reminder of when I get in proper alignment with God , He gives instruction and direction with His left hand and provides power and strength with His right hand to propel me into His will for me. “The Lord is my shepherd”, my protector and provider. Thank you for adding this to my bow upon request!

This was one of the largest Ponderosa pines I’ve ever been around. I stared at it for a long time wishing it could talk. How long had it stood there holding the dry ground? How many winters had it endured? How many predators took refuge in its limbs? How many elk herds had fed by it? How many men and what types of men had wandered the path I was on and stopped to ponder the Ponderosa?
