Why do we love CTE so much? Learning doesn't have to come strictly from text books and lectures. Our BL&H year 2 students are learning about situational leadership and emotional intelligence in leadership. Yesterday they worked through several activities to practice how to react in different situations as well as how to self regulate when a project hits road blocks or your team members are changed. In groups, they started with simply putting a puzzle together....there may or may not have been pieces missing or wrong pieces in their box🤷‍♀️. Then they had a group member change and worked on putting together a Lego project. To finish, they had another group member change and had to build a tower using spaghetti, tape and string that would hold a marshmallow for 60 seconds. Discussion, compromise, communication, self regulation....and FUN!!

Instead of me teaching them about the different styles of leadership...we flipped the script and they taught each other! Our year 2 BL&H students researched various types of leadership, then presented them to the class. The students interacted and deepened understanding through asking questions, making comments and providing feedback.

Help us reach our goal of 100 bedding sets!

HCTC's SkillsUSA chapter is hosting a bedding drive from Sept 21-Oct 8 for Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Sleep In Heavenly Peace is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to building and delivering handmade wooden beds to children ages 3 to 17 who lack a bed of their own. Each bed also comes with a brand new bed set!
We have three drop off locations, at HCTC, at the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and at Ellsworth Elementary Middle School.
Donations need to be new, in original packaging, and fit a twin size bed.
Please see the attached flyer for bedding items needed. Help us reach our goal of 100 sets of bedding!

Our year one students have jumped right in! Today they did their first class presentations. The task was to research a location, its history, attractions, lodging, dining and a market segment to create a destination marketing concept for. We went to Dubai, Japan, Bahamas, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Hawaii, and New York City. Well done all!
