🌲 Rocking & rolling with Maine Outdoor School! 🌊

We had a fantastic visit from Maine Outdoor School last week! Our 6th and 7th graders took full advantage of our outdoor classrooms for some hands-on science exploration.

Our 7th graders hit the woods to act as local geologists—exploring rock types, discovering how they form, and identifying rocks right in our area! Meanwhile, our 6th graders dove into the water cycle with "The Incredible Journey" activity, rolling dice to simulate how water droplets move between lakes, groundwater, rivers, and clouds.

A huge thank you to Maine Outdoor School for bringing science to life for our Middle School students! 🍃

🌟 ESD Star Students of the Week! 🌟

Three of our very Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School students were named the ESD Star Students this week! We are so proud to highlight these three outstanding students who show hard work, kindness, and fantastic school spirit every single day.

⭐️ Rowen (Grade 3)
Rowen brings a positive attitude to school every day and is known for being a kind, supportive friend. He is always quick to lend a helping hand to both his classmates and teachers, helping make our school a brighter place.

⭐️ Parker (Grade 6)
Parker brightens our hallways with her great sense of humor, dedicated work ethic, and upbeat mindset. In addition to always giving her best in class, she shows fantastic school involvement through both soccer and cross-country.

⭐️ Hazel (Grade 8)
Hazel sets a wonderful example in our middle school with her positive energy and proactive commitment to learning. She goes out of her way to assist classmates with challenging math concepts and always asks great questions to ensure she understands what she is learning.

Behind every clean hallway, safe building, and welcoming classroom is a dedicated custodian working tirelessly behind the scenes. Pictured here are just a few members of our incredible team across the district, but we are endlessly grateful for every single custodian who keeps our Ellsworth schools running and our students safe and ready to learn! 🥳🎉

🌱 Hands-on science in 5th grade!

Mr. Napsey’s science classes are diving into plant growth experiments! 🪴

Our young EEMS scientists are busy making lab observations, recording daily data, and testing different growth variables—including how plants react with no sunlight at all. We love seeing this much excitement and curiosity in the classroom lab!

🕵️‍♂️📚 Mystery is in the air at EEMS! 🕵️‍♀️

To kick off their upcoming reading and writing mystery unit, Mrs. Anderson's 6th-grade ELA students stepped into the library for a special "Mystery Book Tasting"! 📖✨

Our awesome librarian Mrs. Bland set the mood perfectly—complete with The Godfather soundtrack playing in the background—as tables were displayed with various mystery subgenres for students to preview. From puzzle adventures to sci-fi, sports, and fantasy whodunits, our young detectives sampled plenty of intriguing choices before checking out a book for their unit! 🔍

We can’t wait to see the creative mystery stories these 6th graders write next! ✍️
