Secondary Education and Teaching alum Dr. Jessica Clark was recently selected as the new provost and vice president of acedemic affairs at Bellevue College! 🐾

Clark (’02) most recently worked as vice president of the Instruction Office at Walla Walla Community College. She has been working as a self-employed executive education strategist since last fall and will begin her new position at Bellevue College on May 1.

Clark said she aims to focus her work on breaking down barriers and fostering spaces of inclusion. During her time in Walla Walla, she launched the community college’s Center for Integrated Learning during her time on campus.

Congratulations Madi McAuliffe and Nick Bates for your recognition at SHAPE America as Major of the Year recipients! 👟🏀🏆🐾

“Wherever you go in this profession, having a strong sense of community is everything,” PESH Professor Dr. Tanjian Liang said. “Madi and Nick both understand the value of community service, and they continually demonstrate their commitment to making other people’s lives better through education. That’s why we nominated them for this award.”

Madi and Nick are both jumpstarting their PESH careers gaining valuable experience outside of the classroom. Madi has worked as a volleyball coach at Kittitas Middle School and Nick is a PE teacher at Damman Middle School.

✈️ CWU Wildcat Aviation, which offers one of the only four-year aviation degrees on the West Coast. “It’s unprecedented the way the need for pilots has exploded over the last several years,” department chair Samuel Pavel said. “The baby boomers are at that mandatory retirement age, and they can’t fly with a commercial airline anymore.”

⚙️ Mechanical engineering alum Matt Jones career shift from entry-level engineer to owner of Art Morrison Enterprises. Alongside his wife Lisa Jones, fellow Central Washington University grad, as the company's marketing manager.

🤸‍♂️ Upgrades to North Campus after the Health Education Project was completed. “One of the benefits of this project is [physical education and school health (PESH) students and athletes] now have [their] own spaces,” Sport and Movement Studies co-department chair Brian McGladrey said. “But we will continue to work together to manage the facilities so we can meet [PESH students and athletes] needs.”
