Training with another great company, Hyde Syte Tactical. Lakes area of Waukesha. Great company. Here Trevor is teaching CCW for LEOs. This isn’t in the basic LE curriculum and most Departments don’t do much of this type of training. Look them up. Other great trainers are at Spartan Tactical Training Group, Critical Impact Group, French Quarter and SCAR Tactical. All of these companies myself included train LE and civilians and treat everyone with respect. These are not your social media types they are all legit experienced instructors. Stay safe

Teaching with Adrian Alan and Critical Impact Group at WCTC a LE Pistol Mounted Optics Instructor class. We had 22 instructor students from around the state. All great dudes. Someone thought we were pretty good in the one photo and the other photo demonstrates the ability to get a good first round hit even if the optic’s LED is blocked by debris (rice). This is a confidence drill and a bit humorous to watch. Catch ya on the range…..ski

The training philosophy of Reality Based Training, Fi****ms and Tactics at Mission Specific Fort Atkinson, WI (https://mymissionspecific.com/) is different than most training organizations and facilities. We are using a philosophy based on the research of Dustin Salomon. He is a multi-book author who wrote Building Shooters https://buildingshooters.com/books/ . The old school method of training for 8 hours a day for 1, 2 or 3 days straight is not the most optimum training design especially for new shooters. As a student you are learning so much new material in a short period of time that the ability of the brain to store all that information in the long-term memory is exceptionally difficult. Without it being stored in the long-term memory the ability to recall the information in a stressful situation is nearly impossible.
Teaming with Mission Specific we can provide 8 hours of training over multiple days. Once registered for class the student will receive information and videos to review to prepare/front load information for the class. Students will then attend the set hours of classroom normally over multiple days. Again, have time for the information to “marinate” and finally move onto the live fire range. By spreading out the learning over several days this allows time for the information learned to transfer into the long-term memory and for the student to practice and review what was learned with out the stress of the classroom environment.
Once all the classes are completed a structured practice regime is given to the student for continued “homework”. By following this teaching method the desired affect is greater long term retention and the ability under stress to use what was learned.
The typical class structure would follow this model:
• Prep materials reviewed several days prior to Day One.
• Day One -2 hours of classroom/dryfire.
• Day Two- 2hours of classroom/dryfire.
• Day Three -4 hours live fire/dryfire.
• Continued dryfire/live fire on own with a plan.

Coming in March!! Classes at Mission Specific in Fort Atkinson. These classes will use a fairly new teaching philosophy. An 8 hour class will be broken up into 3 separate days. 2 evenings and then a weekend morning over a 10 day period will increase retention of what is learned and improve the ability to use those skills on demand under stress. To learn a skill set sometimes a drill just needs to be a drill. Don’t over complicate a drill that forces you into bad habits because of range safety. If you can’t do your cool “ripped from the headlines drill” the way you would respond on the street make it a simple skills drill. There is nothing wrong with that.
