You don’t have to be a homeschool parent or a one-room classroom teacher to use this information. Any multi-grade teacher may find these items useful.
I was a multi-age, multi-grade, small school educator for about thirty-five years, helping churches grow their school or start a Microschool. Then I became Associate Educational Supt. for the Chesapeake Conference in 1999. PA Conference asked me to be their Educational Supt. in 2004, but I had to retire, for health reasons, in 2007. My first church school was in Barronette, WI, for the 1965/1966 school year. The week before classes began, we cleaned out an old brick house used for chickens and installed a bathroom and a heating system. The day school started, there were thirteen students in all eight grades. In the spring, the dirt road past the school became so muddy that students had to be let off about half a mile away and walk in. But we had an incredible year.
What was your first year of teaching like?

I am a fifth-generation Seventh-day Adventist with over four decades of service in Adventist education and ministry. My experience includes roles as a conference vice president for education in PA, associate superintendent of education, and conference children's ministry director for the Chesapeake Conference. From 1965 to 2007, I was privileged to establish new schools and nurture others as a teacher/principal for the Adventist education system. Following retirement, I served briefly as a lay pastor. I currently teach homeschoolers online, write, and wish I had a way to help more.
I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with Adventist educators from my past and making new friends.

This is why all of my students did better than other kids.
It wasn't that I was a fantastic teacher, but I loved being with them and learned as much from them as they learned from me every year.
