It’s been quiet on here for some time, but certainly not still. The past few months have been full in so many beautiful and challenging ways. I’ve been behind the scenes, finishing Hearthmother Journey, building our online/hybrid childbirth course (Birth By Design), serving mothers and documenting all four B’s (bellies, births, babies, and beyond), creating a Woven in Birth small group Bible study for expecting couples (curriculum coming soon), and now, I am stepping into something completely new…
Hearthmother Midwifery Unschool (HMU).
This part feels bigger than I can even express to any of you. Because truthfully, I never set out to become a midwife. I never wanted that level of responsibility in the birth room. I was content to support, to witness, document, and educate, to walk alongside, to help bring birth back to what it was always meant to be, not what the world has made it. But step by step, the path kept unfolding, and the Lord has continued to stretch me.
Each time I stepped further into an aspect of the birth work ministry, He told me it wasn’t enough. When I began photographing what I saw was perfectly intricate and beautiful, He pushed me to doula. When I began supporting women unassisted, as I had done myself, He said “you’re not done.” As I journeyed through Hearthmother, He said “keep going.”
Further than I planned... Further than I thought I would ever go... Further than I said I was willing to go.
But here I am. Still learning, still being shaped, and still giving the Lord my yes. Even when it’s hard. The hardest thing I’ve ever had to keep saying yes to, in fact.
So I’m stepping into this next season with open hands, trusting the One who led me here in the first place. Because if this journey has taught me anything, it’s this:
We are never finished becoming what He calls us to be. We are forever students. In life, in death, and in birth. But birth… Holy. Wild. Birth… it is one of the greatest teachers of all. In God’s love for us, His desires for us, His plans for us. And I am ready to keep learning at His feet, and at the feet of the Hearthmothers before me.
