🎉 𝗘𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗣-𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲" 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝘀!
Elgin ISD's commitment to college and career readiness was front and center at last week's CCRSM Leadership Summit in Irving, where Elgin P-TECH received TEA's Designation with Distinction. ⭐️This is the highest honor awarded for exceeding expectations in student outcomes!⭐️
Elgin students were featured in the summit's welcome video, and Athena Manufacturing, LP and Austin Community College District were both recognized as exemplary partners.
Notably, the program was held up statewide as "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚" for what P-TECH can achieve. Sky Perkins, CCMR Specialist, and Dr. Bianca Villarreal-Ertter, Coordinator of Dual Credit Programs, accepted a commemorative banner on behalf of the district.
This recognition reflects three years of intentional growth across EISD's College & Career Readiness pathways. In 2023, ECHS and P-TECH Welding served 314 students (about one in five Elgin High School students). Today, that number has grown to 512 students, 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦, with expanded opportunities now spanning Associate Degrees, P-TECH Welding certifications, Traditional Dual Credit, Phlebotomy/Health Science, and Computer Technology.
Ms. Perkins and Ms. Villarreal-Ertter also presented the district's TSI Playbook to 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝟰𝟬𝟬 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝘀, sharing practical strategies for TSIA2 testing readiness and highlighting how Dual Credit, ECHS, and P-TECH pathways build the capacity students need to persist beyond high school.
We are incredibly proud of this dynamic duo and all they do to help prepare our students for their futures! Help us congratulate then and our Elgin ISD Career and Technical Education / P-Tech program in the comments! 👇🏾
Go Wildcats!
