🐎 SUNDAY SADDLE STOP: AIKEN, SOUTH CAROLINA
Pines. Polo. Ponies.
Okay, maybe ponies is doing some heavy lifting there - but you get the idea. 😂
This Sunday, we’re stopping in Aiken, South Carolina, where horses aren’t just visitors to the landscape.
They’re part of the story.
Aiken’s equestrian roots reach back to the late 1800s, when horses, foxhunting, racing, polo, and the area’s famous Winter Colony helped shape the community. And that horsey heartbeat is still very much alive today.

Picture this:
🌳 Pine-scented woods overhead.
🐴 Sandy trails beneath your boots.
🏇 Horses stretching into a gallop.
🥅 Polo ponies flying across the field.
☀️ That warm Southern light making everything look just a little bit magical.
And then there’s Hitchcock Woods - 2,100 acres of privately preserved forest right in the heart of Aiken, with around 70 miles of sandy trails enjoyed by equestrians and other outdoor enthusiasts.

Basically, Aiken looked at the phrase “horse country” and said,
“Yes. But what if we made it a lifestyle?” 😄
From trail riders to polo players, foxhunters to dressage riders, racers to eventers, there’s a whole lot of horse world living alongside the Southern charm.
And that’s exactly why we’re stopping here.
Because Sunday Saddle Stops isn’t about finding the fanciest horse place.
It’s about finding those corners of the world where horses have become part of the community’s character - where the hoofbeats are part of the local soundtrack.
So, Aiken friends…
