Today, I received the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s Department of Healthcare Management and Leadership!

To be recognized by an institution that helped shape my professional journey makes this moment incredibly special.

From healthcare operations to academia, leadership development, and community service, it’s been quite a journey. And I’m still writing the next chapter!

What made today even more meaningful was having my family by my side to share this special moment. ❤️

Grateful for the mentors, colleagues, friends, and family who have supported, encouraged, and celebrated me along the way. The best accomplishments are never achieved alone.

Collaboration has been one of the defining themes of my presidency with ACHE of the Southwest—and this weekend at the ACHE Chapter Leaders Conference in Chicago reinforced just how powerful it can be.

I had the opportunity to share some of the lessons I’ve learned as a Chapter President while learning from leaders from across the country. Again and again, the conversation came back to what becomes possible when we work across chapters, organizations, and geographic boundaries.

Thank you to Amber, Jeff, and Daniel from ACHE of New Mexico for being such strong partners, and to ACHE of Texas Midwest and ACHE of Southern California as we continue building new opportunities together. We’ve shared programming, ideas, resources, relationships, and responsibility—and our chapters are stronger because of it.

Collaboration also starts within your own chapter. Thank you to Kristen Koehler and Frantz Berthaud for your leadership and commitment to ACHE of the Southwest. The work we’ve accomplished has never been the work of one person.

One of the messages I shared in Chicago captures what I’ve learned best:

Our neighboring chapters are resources, not competitors.

There is so much more we can accomplish when we build together.

This weekend, I’ll be speaking at ACHE’s Chapter Leaders Conference on “Preparing for Success: Lessons Learned from a Chapter President.”

I’ll be sharing some of the lessons that have shaped my time leading ACHE of the Southwest—from building the right team and creating stronger partnerships to developing future leaders and making sure the chapter is positioned to keep moving forward.

The best leadership lessons are the ones we can pass on—and I’m looking forward to doing exactly that in Chicago.

Grateful to be included in Becker’s Hospital Review alongside 21 rural healthcare leaders sharing perspectives on how we need to think differently about revenue heading into 2027.

For me, the conversation comes back to protecting what rural hospitals have already earned—strengthening denial management, maximizing reimbursement, and finding opportunities to share resources and expertise rather than trying to build every capability internally.

And I was especially excited to see my colleague Rohith Saravanan, MD, featured in the conversation as well!

“In 2027, revenue strategy should be measured not only by new revenue generated, but by how much existing revenue is protected, recovered, and optimized.”

I am honored to share that I have been selected as the 2026 Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Health Professions Distinguished Alumna for the Department of Healthcare Management & Leadership.

Ten years after earning my graduate degree from TTUHSC, receiving this award means so much. My career has taken me across healthcare operations, executive leadership, higher education, and workforce development, with each chapter creating new opportunities to lead, serve, teach, and learn.

I am grateful to the mentors, colleagues, students, healthcare leaders, community partners, friends, and family who have been part of that journey.

Thank you to TTUHSC and the School of Health Professions for this incredible honor. I am proud to celebrate alongside the other 2026 alumni honorees and look forward to returning to Lubbock in October! ❤️🖤

Had a great time at the Border Health Innovation Summit sharing my session, “Building an Integrated Care Network: Expanding Access & Improving Care, Lessons from the Field.”

I also enjoyed supporting my good friends during “A Connected Model: Regional Assets, Gaps, & Solutions,” moderated by Frantz Berthaud with John L. Hummer and Art Garza. So many important conversations about regional collaboration, innovation, and the future of healthcare in our border community.

Thank you to the Medical Center of the Americas Foundation for bringing leaders together to keep this work moving forward.
