This was the first Veterans Day my world 2 father missed , but his grandson Logan sherrill has carried on that tradition and was there to salute his grandfather and presented the flag to my older brother Neal Sherrill at that final call. I want to thank all veterans for their service on this day , for their sacrifice has kept us all free.

The MSPS workshop at the lodge of the 4 Seasons, the Ozarks this week was great , great to see fellow surveyors across the region and share the news about the new Surveying and Geomatics bachelors degree program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville along with the recently approved Minor in Surveying ,

12 students were awarded scholarships in Surveying and Geomatics at the Engineering School annual reception at SIUE on April 10,2025, along with Mr. David Sherrill being awarded the outstanding teacher of the year as the Surveying and Geomatics Program Director within the Construction Department at SIUE.

The Siue boundary survey class conducted a retracement survey in section 19 today , beautiful day . They conducted a traverse of over 2 miles , around a property that lies within a 20 acre tract of land lying in the NE 1/4 of the section. It was conducted in 5 hours with running a 6 wheeler through the farm fields . They also had to work traffic control (Faggers) on all points on the rural roads. Great experience all part of the final project for the semester.

It was a great event , our 13 th annual surveying and geomatics open house for our students at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with over 50 students attending. Visiting with 40 surveying and geospatial companys throughout the Midwest. The students attending our in the surveying and geomatics bachelors degree program or engineers , geographers , or intergraded study programs all in the survey minor pathway for licensure as a professional land surveyor . The money raised in the event for the survey club , helps in there competition trips, and 3 scholarships were awarded that night . I also want to thank the dean of the Engineering school for his attendance and support for that is critical in development of the program .
