UCO Awards Astronaut John Herrington Honorary Doctoral Degree; First in University History 03/11/2024

"UCO President Todd G. Lamb presented Herrington with the award at Oklahoma Research Day as part of the opening ceremony for his extraordinary contributions to space exploration and his efforts to engage Native American interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)."

We were honored to share this day with Dr. Herrington and have him speak at Oklahoma Research Day.

UCO Awards Astronaut John Herrington Honorary Doctoral Degree; First in University History UCO awarded John Herrington, Ph.D., former naval aviation officer and first Native American in space, an honorary doctoral degree at the 2024 Oklahoma Research Day—marking the first-ever honorary doctoral awarded from Central.

Highlights for tomorrow's 25th Oklahoma Research Day.

Don't miss the keynote by Commander John Herrington, a citizen of The Chickasaw Nation and the first Native American in space.

After the keynote, be sure to network with your fellow researchers as well as attend our graduate and career fair and the breakout sessions.

Get some sleep and see you all for breakfast and the keynote beginning at 8am.

Breakfast starts at 8am and is conveniently located around the corner from the Keynote and welcome plenary. You do not want to miss our Keynote from Commander John Herrington, the first Native American in space.
