Before you toss it, give it another purpose! 🌎 SEEMS is collecting clean, small materials for an upcoming creative reuse project, and we need your help filling our collection stations.

Save your bottle caps and lids, pull tabs, corks, buttons, beads, and small natural items like rocks, shells, and seed pods, then drop them off at one of our collection stations in Edinburg, ESCNE in front of 2.603, or Brownsville, between BMSLC 3.113 & 3.116

✨ Clean and dry items only, please.

all current UTRGV students AND employees are welcome to submit original designs that represent our SEEMS programs:
🌎 Environmental Science
🐟 Marine Biology
🌱 Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems
🎓 Agricultural, Environmental, & Sustainability Sciences
🌊 Ocean, Coastal, & Earth Sciences

✔️ Up to 5 entries per student (one per program)

Students had the opportunity to connect with SEEMS faculty, staff, and fellow students, learn more about their programs, ask questions, and start the semester building connections within the SEEMS community. 🌱🌊🪨

Labor Day Closure Reminder! 🛠️

In observance of Labor Day, UTRGV and SEEMS offices will be closed Monday. Regular university operations will resume on Tuesday.

💡 Did you know? The first Labor Day celebration was held in New York City in 1882, and the holiday became a federal holiday in 1894. It recognizes the contributions and achievements of American workers. 🇺🇸

🎨✨ Calling all Vaquero creatives! The SEEMS Sticker Design Contest is back!

We’re looking for designs that showcase the programs that make up SEEMS—and this year, all current UTRGV students AND employees are invited to enter! 🤘

Winning designs will be produced as official SEEMS stickers, featured at SEEMS events and on our social media, and each winner will receive a complete set of all five winning stickers!

🌎 Design a sticker representing one of our five programs:
🌱 Environmental Science
🌊 Marine Biology
🌾 Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems
🌎 Agricultural, Environmental, and Sustainability Sciences
🌊 Ocean, Coastal, and Earth Sciences

🎨 A few important design requirements:
• Designs must be 3" × 3"
• Include the full program name
• Include “SEEMS” or “School of Earth, Environmental, and Marine Sciences”
• Include orange somewhere in the design 🧡
• Leave an empty corner for the UTRGV™ mark
• Original artwork only—hand-drawn and AI-assisted designs are welcome, as long as you hold the rights to everything submitted
• Submit a high-resolution PNG or PDF (minimum 300 dpi)

You may submit one design per program for up to five total entries.

🏆 Eligible designs will face off in brackets on our Instagram Stories, where YOU will help choose the winning sticker for each program!
