PK-5 Parents,
Again, thank you for your patience as we continue working through our morning drop-off procedures. With the loss of access to the back of campus due to construction, Edgewood ISD Administration knew our available space for drop-off and pick-up would be limited.
We are pleased that afternoon pick-up is working well, with cars currently moving through the line in less than 15 minutes and times continuing to improve each day. Unfortunately, morning drop-off has not seen the same success.
Notes went home in student folders on Thursday announcing a change. To help reduce morning traffic, we will implement the following changes beginning Monday, August 24:
SECOND GRADE: Second-grade students will now enter from Crooked Creek and use the Middle School drop-off area, including the circle by the small Elementary gym. Elementary staff will be present to assist students as they exit vehicles and enter through the door located near the second-grade classrooms.
THIRD GRADE: Third-grade students will now use the bus loading/unloading zone in the main parking lot at the side entrance of the Intermediate building. Staff will be present at this entrance to assist students and direct them where they need to go.
ALL OTHER GRADES: Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, First Grade, Fourth Grade, and Fifth Grade will continue using their normal drop-off procedures.
β Have children in multiple grades? You may drop ALL of your children off together. There is no need to go through two different drop-off lines.
β οΈ IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER: Students entering from Crooked Creek should remain in their vehicles until they reach the designated circle and staff members are present to assist them. Please do not allow students to exit vehicles on Crooked Creek and walk to the building.
β° The tardy bell rings at 7:50 AM. Any student arriving after that time because of delays in the drop-off line will still be allowed to eat breakfast.
We anticipate this change will remove approximately 100 vehicles from the current main drop-off line, potentially reducing that line by nearly half.
Administration will continue evaluating morning traffic and will make additional adjustments if needed. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and cooperation as we work to make arrival as safe and efficient as possible for our students.
