The Eden Elementary Garden Club is in full swing! We kicked off the 2021-2022 school year with meetings on October 5th and 7th. With groups of over 30 students each meeting (that’s 60+ members!) we had plenty of help to harvest any remaining crops from the summer and clean out all the beds for winter. Many hands make light work! Our November meetings on the 15th and 16th had our members taking a walk through nature to complete a fall scavenger hunt. Garden club members looked for such items as different colored leaves, seeds and wildlife. At our December meetings the members will be investigating the question: What would the Grinch's Garden look like? This year the members of the Eden Elementary Garden club will be introduced to the sciences, such as Botany – through the interaction with plants and dissection of seeds, Chemistry – through composting; Math – through the planting and management of seeds; and Meteorology – by monitoring the weather and its effects on the garden. A garden grows so much more than just plants! 💚
