Chippewa Valley Writers Guild The Chippewa Valley Writers Guild (CVWG) seeks to support regional writers through an array of high-impact community activities.

The Chippewa Valley Writers Guild (CVWG) is a program of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foundation that seeks to support regional writers by serving as an organizing body committed to mentoring writers and writing groups, coordinating events, and providing outreach activities to the community. Activities will include an annual keynote address, a reading series, a craft talk series, as well as other inclusive, high-impact opportunities for the community.

🎉NEW EVENT ALERT! LIMITED SEATING!🎉

The return to school is as predictable as the seasons. For well over a century, each fall has arrived with the familiar sights and sounds of the school year: chalk dust, creaking desks, and the promise of fresh beginnings.

Join past and present Chippewa Valley educators as they share powerful, funny, and heartfelt stories about the larger lessons learned in the classroom. Featuring: Molly Barnes, Rozie Bejin, BJ Hollars, Connie Russell, and Ken Szymanski.

Also joining us will be musicians Derick Black and Scotty Hayden, teachers who will play school-themed music to go with the stories.

This presentation will be held in Sunnyview, a one-room school at Chippewa Valley Museum in Carson Park. Snag your desk, face the front, but no dipping anyone's pigtails in the ink!

This program is curated by Eau Claire Writer-in-Residence Ken Szymanski and co-sponsored by the Chippewa Valley Writers Guild and the Chippewa Valley Museum.

🎉Hear ye, hear ya!🎉

Our friends at and .ec are teaming up with the Guild to host Bard's Open Mic Night on September 22! We're looking for writers, poets, storytellers, spoken word artists, and anyone who enjoys sharing the written or spoken word to participate in kicking off Renaissance Revival—a four-day Renaissance-themed event series happening September 22–25 at Forage in Eau Claire.

Bard's Night is inspired by Shakespeare and the Renaissance. That doesn't mean you need to perform Shakespeare or write in sonnets! We're embracing the spirit of the era through storytelling, poetry, dramatic readings, folklore, original works, and performances that capture imagination, wit, history, and adventure.

Possible themes include romance, fantasy, adventure, myth, folklore, chivalry, magic, historical tales, or anything else that sparks your creativity. Whether you have an original piece, a favorite work you'd love to share, or a story waiting to be told, we'd love to have you join us.

Each speaker will have a 3–5 minute time slot to share.

Costumes and Renaissance-inspired attire are highly encouraged! Whether you come dressed as a noble, bard, fairy, pirate, tavern keeper, or simply add a touch of Renaissance flair, we'd love to see everyone join in the spirit of the evening.
