Our UWEC robot dog and humanoid robot can be seen in the background of the WEAU news story about the robotics competition at the Pablo Center. (15 sec - 24 s). It was a great opportunity to talk with high school students interested in robotics.

High school students from across Wisconsin and Minnesota gathered at the Pablo Center at the Confluence on Saturday to put their engineering skills to the test at the third annual Leviathan Robotics Rampage.

We had a great turnout for the Leviathans Robotics Rampage on Saturday at the Pablo Center. It was so busy, the only picture we have is right after the set up. The robot dog was a big hit!

UWEC is launching the Assistive Systems and Robotics Engineering major this fall. The types and designs of robots that can help people perform tasks they otherwise would not be able to do is vast. One example is a quadruped robot (often referred to as a robot dog). This quadruped robot will be used for outreach programs and senior capstone projects.

Of course, robotics is used in manufacturing, but the applications go way beyond that, and so do the careers.

Why settle for a robot when you can have a robot coyote? That seems to be the thinking of the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), which is developing a cybernetic prairie predator to keep airfields clear of hazardous wildlife.
