Last week, we welcomed some of our newest Women’s Giving Circle members for coffee at Down to Earth — a relaxed morning to meet, visit and learn a little more about the women behind the mission.

So glad you’re here. 💜

This past week, several members took part in our grant review training, learning proven methods and best practices directly from those who've done this work before. It was a genuine highlight, a mix of education, community, and growth all in one.

Grant review is the bread and butter of what we do, which is exactly why moments like this matter so much. Seeing our team grow and welcoming new members into the grant review process is a great sign of where we're headed.

🌟Grantee Spotlight🌟 - 2024 Literacy Chippewa Valley: Family Literacy Onsite Childcare

Through your donation to WGC, parents with children in the Literacy Chippewa Valley English Language Learning program have access to child care, alleviating a major barrier to their education. With a $7,000 grant in 2024, Literacy of Chippewa Valley was able to provide trained childcare for ages 0-3 for students during their English Language Learning classes. While parents receive free educational services to help them reach their academic, employment and life goals, their young children can be exposed to the English language, going from having no language to having two languages, better preparing them for school and community settings, improving the children’s future potential.

What happens when women come together to invest in their community?

Through the Women's Giving Circle, individual contributions become collective impact. Every membership helps support both the needs of today and the opportunities of tomorrow:

✨ 50% supports the Endowment Fund, creating a lasting legacy of giving for future generations.

✨ 45% funds Annual Grants that support local nonprofits serving women and children in the Eau Claire community.

✨ 5% supports administration, helping the Women's Giving Circle operate efficiently and maximize its impact.

Together, we're not only supporting important work happening today—we're building a stronger future for women, children, and families throughout our community.

🌟Grantee Spotlight🌟 - 2024 Friends of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library: Expansion of the Books for Babies Program

Through your donation to the Women’s Giving Circle, newborns in Hmong and Spanish speaking families can be introduced to the magic of literacy. With a $3000 grant, the Friends of the L.E.Phillips Memorial library was able to expand the offerings of the Books for Babies program to include kits in Hmong and Spanish. Offered free of charge to parents of all babies born at the 2 Eau Claire hospitals, each kit includes a board book, an application for a child's library card, a 1 year free membership to the Friends of the Library, and printed information with reading tips, the importance of early literacy, a brochure with resources about finding more reading material and an invitation to story time at the library. Offering a book to a family can create opportunities for quality time spent together, sharing a story or learning a new concept. A Books for Babies kit can help parents create new skills in reading aloud to their young child helping to create memories filled with laughter, learning, and delight.
