EES is ending the week with some delicious food! 🍕 🍎 🌽

Circle pizza ( I know… Not the classic square, nostalgic pizza 😉), and mixed berry parfaits for students who weren’t feeling pizza today, homemade apple, crisp, corn, and a beautiful salad bar, full of fresh choices!

Way to end the week, EES! ❤️

Happy weekend, everyone! 🎉

Yesterday at EMS, we were serving up fresh-made grilled cheese & soup! 🧀 🥣

Today, EMS & EHS are trying something new. Ramen noodle bowls! 🍜

We have been working on new recipes and new ways to keep lunch fun and exciting for our students.
And remember, we do have state sodium regulations we have to follow, so we’re limited on how much salt we can use 😉

And last, but definitely not least… Another beautiful salad bar! 🥗 💙

Today we’re showing off EES! Look at all those fresh, colorful choices! We love giving our Eagles options and letting them build a plate they’re excited to eat.

Proud of what we’re putting out for our kids every day! 🦅 💙

🥗 Look at all these beautiful options! 🥕🍎

The first day of school means the salad bars are back! 💙

Every day, our WES & CCA students have a variety of fresh fruits and veggies to choose from and build a salad or snack they love.

So many choices, so many possibilities! We’re excited to keep making healthy choices, easy and accessible for our kids. 🥦🍓🥒

🫐 Homemade Blueberry Muffins 🫐

Yes… We make muffins. ( New this year)

School meals aren’t simply, “ Let’s put a muffin on the menu” There are federal and state meal patterns, portion requirements, grain requirements, calorie ranges, sodium limits, saturated - fat requirements, added - sugar standards, recipe crediting, and documentation that Food Service has to follow.

For example, in grades K-5, at least 80% of the grains offered throughout the week must be whole-grain-rich. There are also specific requirements for the amount of fruit, vegetables, grains, meat/meat, alternates, and milk that must be offered.

And that homemade blueberry muffin? It isn’t just a recipe we pulled out of a cookbook. Our recipes and portions have been evaluated to make sure that they meet the requirements for School meals.

We believe kids deserve food that is nutritious and food they actually want to eat.

Because let’s be honest… A beautiful plate of food doesn’t do much good if it comes back to the kitchen untouched. ❤️

For parents who are curious about what goes into planning and serving School meals, I encourage you to take a look at the information directly from the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI)

There is a lot more to school nutrition that meets the eye– and we’re proud of the work that goes into every meal that we serve our Eatonville students.

We don’t just feed kids we put a LOT of thought into how we feed them. ❤️

🍎🥕 Columbia Crest Academy Awarded $13,087 Grant 🍓🥦

Columbia Crest Academy has been awarded $13,087.92 to operate the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program during the 2026-27 school year!

This federally funded program will provide all enrolled elementary students with free fresh fruits and vegetables during the school day, separate from breakfast and lunch. CCA is among 211 school sites across 63 Washington school districts selected to receive funding this year.

Through this program, students will have opportunities to:

🍊 Sample a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables
🥬 Learn where their food comes from
🌱 Connect healthy eating with our school garden
🚜 Explore partnerships with local farms
💚 Develop nutritious habits that can last a lifetime

We are excited to connect this opportunity with the hands-on, nature-based learning at the heart of CCA. This program is about more than providing a healthy snack. It will build curiosity, support local agriculture and help our students care for their health and the natural environment.

Special thanks to Food Service Manager Betsy Bamford for her hard work submitting the grant and helping coordinate the program’s launch! 👏

We cannot wait to begin during the 2026-27 school year! 🍎

✨ Behind Every School Meal Delivery Is Malcolm! ✨

As we wrap up the school year and send out our final grocery order, we want to take a moment to recognize someone who works tirelessly behind the scenes. - Malcolm from our Maintenance Team.

Every Monday morning, long before the sun comes up, Malcolm arrives at the high school to carefully load the delivery truck with grocery orders for every school in our district. Rain or shine, he ensures that each kitchen receives what it needs to serve our students.

His dedication, reliability, and positive attitude make him a tremendous asset to both our district and our community. While many may not see all the work that happens behind the scenes, we certainly appreciate the difference Malcolm makes every single week.

Thank you, Malcolm, for all that you do and for helping keep our schools running smoothly. We are grateful for you!
