One of the things that's different about adults than kids when I teach dance is the time it takes to let go. We always start with a center warm-up to make sure the body is fully ready to prevent any type of injuries and build the necessary strength and flexibility for Dancing and then we follow it with across the floor movement that lets the body really start to express and then go into choreography and finish with filming.

Creating a fun, educational and healthy environment is what Kilolo Dance Co. is all about. And for adults that work and have a lot going on in their day sometimes they need that first 30 minutes to just get out of the funk. And when they become fully present in their body they're able to fully let go, so does their day. One of my favorites things I hear from my students at the end of the class, is "I so needed that." Dance allows us to not only be physically active, but to emotionally express in a way not many other things don't.

The movie You Got Served is still one of my favorite dance movies ever! It came out in 2004 and every time I hear this song I can't help but get hyped!

Decided to teach a little choreography I created to this awesome piece of music in my open level adult commercial hip-hop class. A little different than what I've done usually, and musically a bit challenging for the class at first, but they killed it! We are ready for our dance battle! 😉

Dance at its core is an expression of who you truly are. It’s a moment to release, to feel, to be, to embody and enjoy yourself in life. I know for myself it’s my own form of meditation. I always say dance is my first and truest love. And the way that dance brings a sense of confidence and connection to human beings is truly unmatched.
