For too long, the government has taken away Social Security benefits from millions of educators, first responders, and other public service workers—Social Security they earned.

This has prevented our schools from attracting and retaining great educators, and denied retirees their full Social Security benefits.

That's about to change.

A bill to repeal these unfair penalties has already passed the House by an overwhelmingly bipartisan margin, 327-75.

Now, the Senate will vote as early as the evening of Monday, December 16.

Please call both of your senators and urge them to vote YES on H.R. 82, the Social Security Fairness Act.

You can text REPEAL to 48744 or go to nea.org/repeal to sign up for FastAction which is a tool that will automatically connect you to your senators where you can leave a message urging them to vote yes on the Social Security Fairness Act. It is super quick and easy!

We are trying to generate as many calls as possible to senators offices. Taking a few minutes to pick up the phone will go a long way to getting retirees get the Social Security benefits they earned.

A bill to repeal unfair Social Security penalties known as GPO and WEP has passed the House. We need your help to pass the Social Security Fairness Act in the Senate.
