Itâs wild how many photographers have incredible work,
But their portfolio is accidentally working against them.
It starts with redefining what a portfolio actually is - itâs not just the tab on your website. Itâs everywhere you display your work that a client comes across.
I used to think âlet the work speak for itselfâ was the noble, artistic thing to do. But the truth is, clients donât see what you see. They donât understand the nuance, the intention, and the choices you made. Theyâre not living inside your head.
They need context.
They need clarity.
They need guidance.
And when your photos are placed intentionally with the right balance, the right mix, and the right narrative supporting them, the entire experience of your work changes.
For them⌠and for you.
This weekâs Group Coaching is all about this.
Not just âwhatâ to show, but how to create a portfolio that actually supports your brand message and promise instead of confusing it.
If you want the full walkthrough, Iâd love to have you join us on Wednesday inside The Photography Business Academy. And by the way, ifyouâre unsure, grab the 7-day free trial and come see what it feels like to be supported at a deeper level.
Your photos deserve to be seen and felt the way you intended.
Letâs make sure they are!

Feast-or-famine income doesnât have to be your reality as a photographer!
Too many photographers ride the rollercoaster of peak season highs and off-season lows - leaving money (and peace of mind) on the table. But passive income can change that.
I have been exploring ways to expand my income beyond just my day-to-day "job" of offering photography services for many years, and now (thankfully) these alternative income sources do a lot for my family and I.
From setting up automated print sales, to re-engaging past clients, to affiliate marketing (and a lot more!) - there are ways to earn beyond just simply doing client sessions.
These income streams smooth out the dips and create long-term stability in your business.
We've put together 9 Passive Income Ideas for Photographers that you can start exploring today.
Want the full list? Comment PASSIVE and Iâll send you my in-depth guide: Passive Income for Photographers. đ

AI is changing the photography industry (like so many others), but it does not have to erase your value. In reality, the winners will use it to work smarter while doubling down on the human moments that machines cannot create.
AI can can do a whole lot... streamlining culling, editing, and admin so you reclaim time for creativity, client experience, and rest. The key is discernment. Use AI where it helps, avoid it where it hurts (and admittedly, it can sometimes be hard to even recognize where it hurts!).
Keep your copy in your voice, keep your client communication personal, and keep an eye on the ongoing ethics and legal concerns that arise from AI usage and growth.
If your interested in reading more about the pros, cons and opinions of AI and it's influence on professional photographers, you'll want to check out a recent blog post I put together.

Feeling like everyone else has it figured out while youâre still fumbling with gear, posing, or pricing?
Youâre not broken. Youâre building.
Imposter syndrome is common in creative work because our art is personal and public.
The fix isnât empty affirmations.
Itâs targeted reps, better reframes, and real support. When you master key skills, reinterpret the signal, and surround yourself with constructive community, the spiral quiets and your momentum returns.
If you want practical steps you can apply this week, I put together a deeper guide that blends mindset, systems, and skill-building. Itâs the exact framework I wish I had earlier.

Your style isnât hiding in a preset.
For years, I obsessed over finding the âperfectâ tones. The right look. The magic preset that would finally make my work feel like me.
But when I zoomed out, I realized my style had almost nothing to do with sliders or presets⌠and everything to do with what I wanted my photos to say.
When I defined my brand - my mission, my why, who I serve - my editing finally had direction. It stopped being guesswork. It became an extension of the story I wanted to tell.
If youâve been chasing the perfect edit, maybe the missing piece isnât in Lightroom at all.
Comment âbrandâ and Iâll send you our free brand audit to help you uncover whatâs really at the heart of your style.
