Did you know June is **National Caribbean American Heritage Month**? 🌊✊🏾

If you've never heard of it, that's exactly why this post exists.

Caribbean immigrants and their descendants have been shaping this country since its founding and most people have no idea. Alexander Hamilton🇰🇳. Shirley Chisholm🇧🇧, the first Black woman to run for President of the United States. Colin Powell🇯🇲. The Caribbean fingerprints on American history, politics, culture, and community are undeniable.

In 2006, Congress officially recognized June as National Caribbean American Heritage Month because the contributions are too significant to ignore. Caribbean Americans are doctors, nurses, teachers, entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, soldiers, and everyday people who showed up and built something in a country that didn't always make it easy.

This month, we learn. We celebrate. We acknowledge.

If you have Caribbean roots this is your month. If you don't, now you know. Spread the word. 🇯🇲🇹🇹🇭🇹🇧🇧🇬🇾🇱🇨🇻🇨🇩🇴🇵🇷

In the midst of a challenging and uncertain political climate, we want to be intentional about pausing to honor the achievements that remind us why we press forward.

We proudly celebrate three brothers who have each reached extraordinary academic milestones:

Brother Taggart, though your journey took you to new chapters, you will always be OPL. Brothers Riddick and Lofton, you continue to raise the bar right here at home. To all three, the Alpha Man is a scholar, and you've proven it.

The world may feel heavy right now, but Black excellence does not wait, does not pause, and will not be overshadowed. Congratulations, brothers — better late than never, and never less than deserved. 🎓🙌🏾💛🖤
