“You’re welcome!” goCAMPUSing receives lots of phone & email feedback about our college campus group tours. The vast majority are messages of thanks & appreciation, which several we post on our website’s Testimonials Page. But this one deserves a little more attention – it’s written in Tomato Sauce – by a very appreciative high school goCAMPUSing tour participant in their empty dinner pasta plate. It definitely deserves a shoutout for creativity. That student made a point to show it to our goCAMPUSing staffer on the tour while exiting the restaurant. The plate will be washed clean, but the message it sent to our goCAMPUSing staffer & the impact the college tour had on this high school student will long be remembered. Hey, it’s now recorded on social media etched onto the internet for all time. LOL. Learn more about goCAMPUSing & read some testimonials - by visiting our website: www.goCAMPUSing.com

22.3% of College Freshmen Drop Out in the first 12 Months*. Unfortunately, college wasn’t what they thought it would be like. Most high school students only learn about a college and college life via clicking on a few college websites, or by going to a college fair in their high school’s gym. Because of this lack of tangible firsthand information and insight into how college is different than high school, too many teens become overwhelmed & drop out of college in their Freshmen Year, and 40% of the rest never complete their degree program even within 8 years*.
Why? Mostly because college wasn’t what they expected. It isn’t that they’re not smart or are academically unprepared, (although in many cases the academic rigor is harder in some colleges than others), but most teens aren’t aware of nor prepared to adapt to a college’s environment, processes, operation, and costs.
With the independence and freedom college offers comes each student’s responsibly for making their own choices, decisions, and the positive and negative consequences of those actions.
In high school, it’s rare to have more than thirty-five students in a classroom solely taught by teachers. In college, however, classes can range from five to two hundred students, depending on the institution’s size.
College students are often assigned substantial amounts of reading and writing, which may not be directly addressed in class. And no one is there to remind a college student what reading needs to be done or when assignments are due.
Exams can be long, writing assignments are frequent, and there are more debates and discussions.
There are also fewer opportunities for grades to be determined, with some courses only having two or three tests in a semester.
PLUS, college students also must remember to do their own laundry, set time to exercise, & other self-care activities – like eat.
That’s a whole lot, considering that teens go from the structure of high school and home life – are then thrust into being totally responsible for themselves. That is TOO much for many…..if they aren’t prepared and don’t expect what a college education & college life is all about. That is why so many drop out of college.
AND that is also why, it is so important that goCAMPUSing is here! Over the past 15 years, goCAMPUSing has helped tens of thousands of teens experience a college campus for themselves. To see colleges firsthand and have an opportunity to talk to college students on campus, ask questions, and hear their insights. Not a canned COLLEGE FAIR Sales Pitch, “Our College is the BEST! We want YOU!” But an unscripted real-life interaction on a college campus.
goCAMPUSing wants every teen to Discover their own “RIGHT FIT” Colleges: Academically, Socially, and Financially - OR – maybe discover that College isn’t for them. That happens all the time. But at least they discover that BEFORE they attend a college – wasting their time & money.
