A special part of my MSUCAC journey was returning to Ferndale High School. I served as the College Adviser at FHS from 2023โ2025. As a Ferndale alum, it was incredibly rewarding to give back to the school and community that played such an important role in my own story while helping students prepare for their futures. ๐
During my time at Ferndale, I had the privilege of supporting students as they explored their postsecondary options and worked toward their goals. Along the way, I built meaningful relationships with students, staff, fellow advisers, and colleagues, creating memories and friendships that I will always cherish.๐
This experience helped me grow both personally and professionally, and Iโm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting this mission in my current role. โจ

Hello! My name is Maria and I will be posting for the Adviser Takeover Series this week for MSUCAC. I am a 2nd AmeriCorps State and National Member for our great state of Michigan. I am a 1st Year MSUCAC Adviser and a former AdviseMI MCAN Adviser. I have been with Perry High School for both years of service. I took on this role after graduating from Adrian College in 2024 with my B.A in English with a Minor in Social Work. Go Dawgs! ๐ถ๐
As a young minority individual who came from a low-income and single parent household in rural Michigan, I faced many of the immeasurable barriers that hinder a path toward higher education for students with socioeconomic hardship. In my position, I use both my knowledge and personal experience to help students navigate any obstacles that impede their postsecondary pathways to ensure they are provided support to achieve a successful transition to life after high school. It is incredibly fulfilling to assist my students in the same way my mentors did for me when I was in high school โ and thatโs why I serve โ to create accessibility to pathways that may feel unachievable to many students in Michigan.
I look forward to sharing more of my experience with you all! Stick around to find out more about programs like AmeriCorps, MSUCAC, and the service we provide to the communities that host College Advisers.

Good morning everyone and happy Monday! My name is Jane Blair and I am currently serving at Algonac High School for the 2025โ2026 school year, and I am a first-year! This week I will be taking over the MSUCAC Instagram page.
A little bit about me: I actually graduated from Algonac High School in 2020, and now it is my service site through MSUCAC! It has been such a pleasure and an honor to come back to this school and serve my community. After graduating from Algonac in 2020, I attended St. Clair County Community College for two years, where I completed the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA), and then finished my college journey at Central Michigan University, where I graduated in May 2025 with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Follow along with me this week to see what I do in a week at Algonac!
