Drawing on her doctoral research, Lampe helps translate complex evidence into policy and advocacy efforts designed to strengthen families and prevent child welfare system involvement.

The Kinship Care Resource Center received $1.5 M over three years to implement the evidence-based Foster Kinship Navigator Model statewide in partnership with MDHHS and regional community partners!

The project will strengthen Michigan’s existing Kinship Navigator system through coordinated assessment, information and referral, family advocacy, legal navigation, benefits coordination, and connections to community resources, while building the workforce, technology, partnerships, and quality improvement infrastructure needed to sustain high-quality services for kinship families across Michigan.

For Mesothelioma Awareness Day, we’re highlighting research shaped by the experiences of patients, caregivers and people who have lost a loved one.

The Mesothelioma Caregiver Study is a collaboration between MSU’s School of Social Work and the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. Funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, the four-year study is entering its third year.

The next phase will test the feasibility and acceptability of an online bereavement support group, not whether its benefits are already proven. Recruitment begins in October, with the first group starting in January 2027.

Beyond the weekly group sessions, participants will meet with researchers by Zoom or phone at enrollment, at the beginning and end of the group, and three months afterward. A self-administered survey follows one month after the group ends, with an opportunity to join a focus group at the end of the study.
