Tonight! Tonight, the books open for senior portrait booking right here: https://lwpbooking.as.me

Both my "Senior Sessions" and my "Lite Senior Sessions" will run mid-June through the end of October. If you are an ELHS student/parent you will want an appt that is no later than mid-Sept as the ELHS yearbook deadline is an early one. See my previous post on 1/21 for more information.

Ahhhh! The moment these books open is always a really nice ray of sunshine in the dead of winter. Something very wonderful to look forward to!

Hey Everyone! In just two weeks I'll be hosting a two-day headshot event at the space seen here, near REO Town in Lansing. I have 4 appointments left. These are very relaxed sessions where we can capture a variety of looks. And we can tailor them to what you're needing the most. This is Morgan Hutson, of Hutson Homes - Coldwell Banker Professionals It's been so great to see these portraits roll out in her work this year. I've worked with Morgan several times over the years, and she is always a joy to spend time with! If you're in the market for a realtor, do check her out.

And of course, please contact me if you have any questions at all.

Hello! With my Senior Session appointment calendar going live in less than 2 weeks, it's a good time for extra information for parents & students. Because even if you’re not booking with me, my hope is something in this message makes things easier on you!

First, the basics. Most senior portraits are taken over the summer between junior and senior year, or during the fall of senior year. Fall works for most schools. East Lansing, however, has an early deadline - Oct 1 for this year's graduating seniors (see below for a short list of some of this year's deadline dates). Not only do you need to account for appointment timing, you need to account for turnaround time. With me, it’s typically two weeks. But it varies by photographer.

Also note, if you wish to submit senior ads, such as in the band or orchestra programs, those are usually due early in the school year. Additionally, if your kiddo is active in Fall sports, marching band, etc., history tells me it will likely be easiest if you book a June or July date.

If you're familiar with my offerings for Senior portraits, please know I have added a new option this year: “The Lite Senior Session”. But I have four different session options that can accomplish senior portraits. Sometimes families book a couple different options for one senior for variety's sake. It really comes down to what type of experience you are looking for. For all the ins & outs about what you get from a Senior Session vs. a Lite Senior Session, vs. a Mini Session, vs. a Headshot Session, please head to the “work with me” tab on my website: www.lindsaywilkinsonphotography.com

Finally, why the heck are we talking about this so early? Because many families have very busy summer schedules. Teens have summer work schedules. Summer and especially Fall, are the months that photographers are slammed! Let today be a reminder that we have a pretty short shooting season in Michigan. No matter which photographer you hope to work with, book on the early side. Every August I get numerous panicked parent inquiries. Which I get! When it’s your first time through it can catch you off guard that the yearbook image is due shortly after they start senior year.

Hence my (very long winded!) heads-up post. I hope it helps someone. Can you tell I’m already really looking forward to this next season? I really am. Don't hesitate to email me with any questions: [email protected]

Yearbook dates for some of these local & current '26 grads:
East Lansing - Oct 1
Okemos - Nov 1
Grand Ledge - Dec 12
Haslett - Jan 23

Well, a happiest back-to-school season to all! This year, I have a junior in college, a freshman in college, and a 10th grader walking into their various schools.

I am about 2/3 of the way through the senior shooting season. And today I thought I'd post some fun facts...

With nearly 40 seniors on the schedule this year, the high school with the most seniors booked is East Lansing, with Haslett in #2, and Okemos in #3. Additionally, I'm working with seniors from Lansing Catholic, Holt, Grand Ledge, East Grand Rapids, Freeland and Fenton! Of the seniors booked, there were 4 I had not yet had the pleasure of working with previously. Sixteen of the seniors this year have an older sibling, or two, or even three, whose senior portraits I also took. That kind of family repetion makes it all the more fun. And seventeen seniors this season were preschool age, or younger, the first time I worked with them. A few of them were even newborns!

And, so far (because I know y'all love your dogs) I've had four dogs join their seniors for portraits.

Hello everyone! Just an informational note from me today... on Senior Sunday!

Many of you are just about to launch into your child's senior year and are now adding senior portraits to "the list". I know this, because I'm getting a high volume of emails. And that's okay!

While my "Senior Sessions" are fully booked, I do have a small handful of Mini Sessions left in October and November. These can be used to capture senior portraits too.

PLEASE NOTE: You do need to check what the cutoff date is for senior yearbook photo submittal at your high school. For ELHS, these remaining Mini Session dates are too late. But for many school districts, they are not. ELHS just happens to be one of the earliest.

My booking calendar can be found here: https://lwpbooking.as.me/

If you do not have a senior, but you are interested in a full "Senior Session" in the future, my Senior Sessions are always announced at 8pm the evening of Feb. 1st - yes, of their junior year - every single year. Therefore, you can mark your calendar in advance now.

And, a further note to say, lots of families accomplish senior portraits with Mini Sessions. And, they do so in many different ways. Some book just one (8 images). Some book 2 or 3 Minis. Sometimes they book them back-to-back. Sometimes they book them the same day, but with a Mini or two in-between so they have extra time to go change their outfit, and/or hairstyle, etc. And, sometimes, they book them over a series of seasons - one in the Spring, one in the Summer, and one in the Fall. Which allows for many different backdrop looks.

Hopefully this breakdown helps a bit with planning. There are so many ways to achieve senior portraits. Including, many other fabulous photographers in the area.

One photographer I wish to introduce you to is CeCe Monteagudo! She is rather new to this area but ran a very successful photography business in her home country, Cuba. She is looking to establish her business again, but here. And she is both a lovely person and a talented photographer. Check her out: https://www.cecemonteagudo.com/

As always, never hesitate to reach out with a question.

Thank you,
Lindsay

Dreaming of spring! Because I'm so ready! But also, because my Spring Mini Session calendar opened just now. Mini Sessions from the end of April until early June, when all the trees are in bloom!

These can be used in an assortment of ways. Family portraits, sibling or individual child portraits, senior portraits (as is the case with this image), and headshots too! All of those options work for a Mini Session.

Some people want more time and more images, so they book two or three Minis back-to-back. Or, sometime folks book two appointments for one evening, but space them out a bit to allow for an outfit change. However you wish to make it work for you!

FIXED! Again, my sincere apologies. My system immediately posted the Sept dates, but would not post the June, July or August dates for Seniors. I had to go in and start from scratch to get it to register correctly. Ooooof! Painful! I am so sorry. I've used this system for years and never had an issue... until tonight! If you booked Sept, but want earlier, quickly use your confirmation email and use the "reschedule" tab within it.
