As we head into Regional play this week, it's important to remind spectators of expectations on the course.
The MHSAA encourages you to help search for golf balls and offer affirmative general encouragement, but otherwise stay at least 25 yards away from players with no direct communication with the kids.
Failure to do so can result in stroke penalties against players, and the spectator's removal from the course.
Good luck to all this week!

Troy freshman Hannah Kim had a very special round this week at Fieldstone Golf Club in Auburn Hills.
Playing in the OAA Red League Tournament on Tuesday (9/29/26) she fired a personal best 6-under-par 65 from 5,100 yards that included six birdies … and an ace! She is coached by Garrett Lovas.
She used a 52-degree wedge on the 89-yard 14th hole. She gasped in shock and displayed a huge smile after watching the ball hit two feet past the hole, spin back and drop into the cup.
Her dad was there to see it and share in the celebration. It was her first ace.
Congratulations, Hannah, on your amazing round!

Hudsonville sophomore Mia McClure clearly takes direction well!
Coaches often talk through shots with players, but executing those shots is the hard part. Mia and Coach Sara Gardner talked through a shot on Monday (9/28/26) at American Dunes GC during the Captain Sally Invitational, and Mia perfectly executed the 155-yard 6-iron swing that resulted with the ball trickling into the cup.
"It was between clubs for her," Coach Gardner said. "We talked about how shorter would be a safer play, so she went with the 6-iron. I told her that the green breaks hard to the right, so let's aim at the darker green spot on the green left of the pin."
After the swing, coach and player exchanged high-fives as the ball started out perfectly on target. Coach Gardner told Mia "Oh, my ... watch this ... go, go." They saw the ball disappear and Mia asked "What just happened!?"
"I looked at her and said, 'You just got a hole in one!'"
Mia shot 98 on the day.
Congratulations, Mia!

Earlier this month Petoskey junior Hadley Loe earned the nickname "Ace" after hitting a hole-in-one at the Alpena Invitational at Alpena Golf Club!
Hadley flushed her 8-iron on the 120-yard hole 5 on her way to shooting 103. She is coached by her dad, Chad Loe, who watched the shot alongside his daughter. The ball landed on the green, hopped twice and disappeared into the cup. Locals say it's an especially difficult hole to ace, especially if the shot does not spin backwards to the hole.
Mom, Heather, heard the celebration from across the course as she was monitoring play in the junior varsity event.
Congratulations, Hadley!

Congratulations, Mazie!

Parma Western's Genevieve Davis hit the shot of a lifetime on Monday (9/14) in an I-8 League event at Marywood GC in Battle Creek!
She aced the 98-yard fourth hole with her 9-iron!
Genevieve did not see it disappear into the hole, and upon reaching the green assumed it had rolled off the back. Spectators, however, told her to check the hole. She was both surprised and shocked!
Coached by Teresa Nagy, Genevieve shot 106.
Congratulations, Genevieve!
