Food Safety for Pediatric Cancer Patients - MSU Study

Hi! I am seeking caretakers of children (age 18 or younger) who are currently (or within the last 2 years) in cancer treatment. My dissertation aims to help develop better food safety guidelines for cancer patients—but I need your help.

Participants will be paid $10 to complete a short online survey about food safety behaviors and knowledge or experience with safety guidelines. If desired, participants can opt to also complete a 30-minute virtual interview and receive another $25.

Hi! I’m Carly Gomez and I’m a Ph.D. candidate at Michigan State University. My dissertation work focuses on improving food safety recommendations for cancer patients.

I’m currently conducting a paid, IRB-approved study to learn how pediatric cancer patient caretakers view food safety guidelines during treatment, and how often they are followed. The study includes an online survey and optional interview, with questions about demographics, food availability, food safety behaviors, and experience with provided food safety guidelines. I am passionate about improving this aspect of cancer treatment.
