Are you ready to run? Join us for our annual Together We Run for Education Charity Road Race on September 26. Whether you want to run, walk, or just enjoy a day of health, the road race brings our community together in support of East Hartford students.

Fantasia moved to the U.S. from Ghana when she was 9 years old. She’ll be heading to Southern Connecticut State University to study nursing.

“As a student in the East Hartford Public Schools system from K-12, I have been both a witness to and a participant in a diverse and supportive community. Throughout my journey, I have had the opportunity to learn alongside peers from many different backgrounds, cultures and life experiences. My perspective on society has broadened because of these interactions and taught me the importance of empathy, respect and collaboration.

The teachers, counselors and staff consistently encouraged me to challenge myself, while fostering an environment that emphasized critical thinking and growth. Their guidance helped me develop the confidence to pursue my goals and overcome obstacles.

Now, as a rising senior at the University of Connecticut, I continue to feel the impact of the support and encouragement I received from the educators and mentors I had the privilege of learning from. I am forever indebted to East Hartford Public Schools for providing a foundation for my future.”

Fun Fact: Victoria as a member of the 2022 East Hartford High School girls’ basketball team that won the program’s first-ever state championship!

This year’s Melody A. Currey Public Service Scholarship recipients are Denese, Victoria and Farah!

🎓Denese has already proven she can handle anything, balancing roles as East Hartford High Drill Team Captain, co-captain at her dance studio, and a daycare teacher’s assistant. She’ll be studying social work at Southern Connecticut State University.
🎓 Victoria is ready to study psychology at CT State Community College Manchester. Born in Venezuela, Victoria says that experiencing different cultures has helped make her adaptable and open minded.
🎓 Farah is off to Brown University to study health and human biology. She believes the selfless and inspirational individuals that make up the teachers and faculty of East Hartford Public Schools is what makes the district so special.

Congratulations to the 2026 Coach Konopka 'For the Team' Award recipient, Angel! 🎓

Multi-talented Angel, who is not just a part of the wrestling team but also participates in theater, is headed to Eastern Connecticut State University to study psychology. Angel’s favorite thing about East Hartford Public Schools has been the support.
