🐝Baggie feeders are my favorite way to feed my bees! There are so many benefits to baggie feeding. Here’s a few…
🐝It’s very inexpensive. You only need a shim and a baggie.
🐝 Honey bees will not take down cold syrup! With baggie feeders, the heat from the colony warms the syrup, and the bees quickly take every drop!
🐝There’s no drowning!❤️🐝
🐝The baggie aligns perfectly with the “condensing hive” management I use with all my colonies.
🐝Done right, there is no scent leaving the hive that could attract robbers!
🐝I keep the baggie in place and use it to feed sugar slurry and fondant in the late fall.🐝

Whew! That’s a wrap!! It’s so satisfying to clean the extracting equipment at the end of a very productive season!! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I can’t wait for next season!!

The sun isn’t strong enough to use my solar wax melter anymore, so I pull out this device. It’s a very simple way to render bees wax. Each batch takes a day to melt, and a few hours to cool. I use the slum-gum paper filled towel “filter” as a fire starter. No fuss, no mess, easy peasy.

Round two of Apiguard for all my nucs. It’s the perfect time of year to treat your bees for nasty varroa mites. Apiguard is a natural, slow-release thymol gel used to control varroa mites and I love how I can control the dosage depending on colony size and health.
