Some of the very best childhood memories come from muddy boots, curious hands, and days spent exploring.

So far this summer, our campers collected eggs (chicken and quail!), harvested vegetables, cared for animals, built forts, searched for woodland creatures, created delicious farm-fresh recipes, and let their imaginations lead the way.

They learned, laughed, worked together, got wonderfully messy, and discovered the simple magic of spending their days outdoors.

These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you to every camper and family who made this summer so unforgettable. Hereโ€™s to dirty hands, full hearts, and a childhood well spent.

RIEEA Member Spotlight: The Farm & Forest Education Center ๐ŸŒŸ RIEEA is excited to highlight the Farm and Forest Education Center, a non-profit dedicated to connecting children with nature through hands-on learning and sustainable farming experiences. Registration is open for one of their most popular programs, Little Acorns.

๐Ÿ’š Little Acorns is a drop-off, farm-based outdoor program for children ages 3โ€“5 designed to nurture curiosity, confidence, and connection through nature. This year, they are offering six-week sessions โ€” giving children more time to build friendships, deepen their comfort outdoors, and fully settle into the rhythm of the farm. As the days grow longer, our littlest learners will be right there in it all โ€” noticing new buds, listening for birds, feeding the chickens, and getting their hands in the warm spring soil.

This is a great conference for anyone interested in Environmental Education!

On Saturday, March 14, join us at the RIEEA 2026 Annual Summit: Education Through Cultivation, a morning gathering focused on how environmental education can strengthen our relationship to land, food, and community. bit.ly/RIEEA-Summit

Together, educators, farmers, land stewards, advocates, and community members will explore practical, place-based approaches to learning that cultivate resilience, equity, and care for both people and ecosystems.

Weโ€™re excited to welcome keynote speaker Sienna Viette, herbalist and agricultural educator at Open fArms Retreat in Cumberland, RI, who will share her work advancing local food systems, Farm to School initiatives, and community-driven food pathways across Rhode Island.

The program also includes facilitated small-group discussions, cross-sector networking, and resource sharing focused on environmental education, agriculture, traditional ecological knowledge, and land stewardship. Enjoy a full hot breakfast, raffle, and door prizes. Leave inspired, connected, and equipped with ideas you can put into practice!

Registration is open and "pay what you can" options are available to ensure the Summit is accessible to all.
