There's a point to this post.
But before I get to the point I'm going to tell the story. The owner of this dog right here contacted me to see if I could help her. Her dog was pulling her really really bad on a leash. Uncontrollable. So I went to help her and when I got there she was telling me about her dog and how bad she is on a leash. She kept saying I don't know I don't know I don't know. I could tell that she didn't have much faith in this dog getting any better. Then she went and pulled out a bunch of stuff. Choke chain, head halter and an e-caller. Pretty pricey stuff. Especially the e-collar. I told her I didn't need any of that All I needed was the leash. So she put the leash on the dog and I could tell by the way she was acting and holding herself she just thought I was going to see a dog that was just uncontrollable and there wasn't anything that could be done. She just had no faith at all. To make a long story short. In 6 minutes flat. I have that dog walking in a heel. I walked the dog around and showed her how to walk the dog and then another 15 minutes she was walking her own dog in a heel. She wasn't saying a word. I thought there was something wrong so I asked her are you okay? Is there something wrong? She just shook her head and said I cannot believe this. Thst my dog is walking like this right beside of me. No pulling no nothing. So my point to this post is this. Do not be suckered in to the dog industry on special tools and easy fixes. All they want is your money and that's it. Can I use a choke chain to teach a dog to walk? Yes. Can I use a head halter to teach a dog to walk? Yes. Can I use an e-collar to teach a dog to walk? Yes. But you can't. I guarantee you at least 95% of everybody out there have no idea how to use any of the tools correctly. And by that you can do more damage and create more of a problem then you can fix. If you have a problem with a dog like walking the dog on a leash. Get you a good trainer. For a lot less than what she paid just for that particular e-collar. I had her dog walking in about 20 minutes. So all the money that was spent on all the tools and gadgets to fix the problem didn't work. Money out the door because she doesn't need them for anything. And now this dog is walking in a heel, walking loose leash and has and almost perfect down, sit, stay and recall. It's like the old saying. Knowing is half the battle. And when it comes to dog training that is absolutely 110% correct. So again. Don't get suckered into the dog industry stuff. They just want to make money.
