We extend our sincere congratulations to the board, administration, teachers, and staff of Eagle Pass Independent School District on securing a “B” rating in the latest Texas Education Agency accountability evaluations.

The overall rating of the district is 83; this measures how much students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the next grade. It also shows how well a school or district prepares their students for success after high school in college, the workforce, or the military.

Thank you to the educators and families whose daily efforts drive success for the youth of Eagle Pass! 📊📈

“Eagle Pass ISD is the place to be!”

We echo the message that our superintendent, Samuel Mijares, shared with us this morning as well as the insights gained from the convocation guest speaker, Erin Gruwell!

Erin shared about her lived experiences that brought us The Freedom Writers Diary; it is 1999 book written by the Freedom Writers(150 of her student authors) with intros by Erin.

We are excited to be working along admin and staff once again at MJH and EPJH to help the class of 2031 believe that they too can write another chapter and be college and career ready!

Congratulations to all who worked really hard to make this convocation a success. There were many inspired tears and hugs shared this morning.

We also feel inspired and grateful to share that the 2026-2027 school year will be dedicated in celebration of the life and legacy of Mr. John Cox.

Congratulations to our EPJH & MJH Students who were nominated and selected to go to the Texas Student Leadership Summit at UT Austin!

Our students traveled to Austin today with one of our site coordinators, Mrs. Gaffney. 🎉 We know they are representing our schools and Eagle Pass ISD with enthusiasm, intelligence, and kindness. We can’t wait to hear about the memories they will make and the friends they’ll meet from across the state of TX. 🤠

Special thanks to our district liaison, Elizabeth Torres, and our admin teams at MJH and EPJH who always work with us to make these great things happen.

This summer, your AI 25 grant site coordinators got to travel to the NCCEP Conference in Washington DC. We were happy to be traveling with our Superintendent - Samuel Mijares, District Liason - Elizabeth Torres, and our principals - Luis Huerta, Yolanda P. Ramon, Jesus Dias-Wever, and Mario Escobar.

Over those 4 days we learned about our student needs, greater access to college and other post secondary opportunities, as well as how across the country.

We are proud to be a district working in collaboration with UT Austin to bring our class of 2031 this amazing opportunity. 🤘🏼🧡🎉

A very late but necessary post about Algebra Camp Week 2! Our second of two trips to UTSA, IFly, and Big Lou’s Pizza!

Students once again learned about life as a UTSA student, physics and math in an IFly STEM workshop and that 62 inch pizzas are indeed a real thing. ✖️✈️💙🧡➗
