Best. Field. Trip. EVER. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
FatCats you really know how to show preschoolers a good time! We loved our behind-the-scenes tour and our guide REALLY knew how to talk to kids!
We learned all about how things work at the movies🎥, the arcade🕹️ and the lanes🎳!
🍿Plus we helped make the popcorn, eat the popcorn and then tore up the lanes with our little feet in those little bowling shoes!

Truly, kids learn and grow because of a built-in bit of WONDER. They have curiosity that triggers them to explore and try. They are BRIGHT, every one of them, and it’s my job to develop their capabilities. It’s a thrill to figure them out. Figure out where they’re at, what they need and what makes them excited to learn...they are a wonder...a BRIGHT WONDER!
At Bright Wonders Preschool I follow the developmentally appropriate guidelines set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Utah’s Early Childhood Core Standards. That’s a lot of words but in case you were wondering...😉.
I use a play-based learning approach. Teaching through play allows me to build the skills and foundation kids need, without stress and discouragement. For example; before they are expected to write their names, they’ve already gotten the necessary muscle control needed by playing with play-dough and clothespin games. And they’ve already gotten familiar with letter creation in a more playful way like fingers in peanut butter paint. Now they’re ready to try writing! Play is used in large group time, small group time and even one-on-one instruction.
Just as important as teacher led instruction, is free play time. When they have free play, they are choosing their own learning. This creates deep engagement and positive outcomes. My learning environment is set up to stimulate curiosity and skills and to reinforce my lessons and agenda. I work with the children during their free play time to direct learning and social skills. Free play is so important to their growth and development that my class times are 2 hours 45 min. long to ensure that they get plenty of it.
Wrapping up this “about us” is a bit of my background: I have been a teacher for the Colorado Preschool Program (part of the Colorado Dept. of Education), and for HeadStart Preschool for 4 years. I’ve taught and led the HeadStart Homebase Program for 2 years instructing parents in home teaching. (I firmly believe parents are the first and most influential teachers). As well as my educational background in Elementary Education, I have a Certificate of Child Development from the NAEYC. I taught all of my children to read at age 4 and if that is a goal of yours, together we can make it happen.
