Texas Challenge Academy Reclaiming the potential of young adults through education, training, mentoring and service.

Texas ChalleNGe Academy (TCA) is a voluntary, 5 ½ month residential program for 16-18-year-old students across the state of Texas who are struggling to find success in a traditional high school. TCA collaborates with Rice CISD to provide academic opportunities to recover/earn credits and advance towards earning a high school diploma or a GED. TCA is a rigorous, quasi-military structured program with a curriculum that integrates eight core components: Academic Excellence, Life Coping Skills, Health & Hygiene, Physical Fitness, Job Skills, Leadership/Followership, Service to Community, and Responsible Citizenship.

"Push through things and don't complain." 💪

A huge congratulations to Cadet Zander Koch from the Bravo Bulldogs platoon on earning Cadet of the Week!

Hailing from Burkburnett, TX, Cadet Koch has demonstrated outstanding resilience and growth since arriving at Texas ChalleNGe Academy. He credits his growth in maturity regarding his surroundings and a strong mindset for helping him push through tough times, alongside the support of staff members Mrs. Frazier and Mrs. Manciaz.

Behind his tough, work-hard attitude is a heart that deeply cares for those around him. Up next on his list of goals? Setting his sights on earning 1st Sergeant before the cycle ends!

A huge shoutout to our dedicated staff members who spend an extra hour, twice a week, leading our Small Unit Groups (SUGs)! 💙

Because these groups are completely voluntary, it’s always inspiring to see so many cadets choose to spend their free time stepping up, learning new skills, and growing together. Today, we’re highlighting two more of our groups:

🥎 Softball: Cadets head out to the field to build teamwork, practice sportsmanship, and enjoy some active, friendly competition!
🎖️ Drill & Ceremony: Cadets focus on precision, discipline, and taking pride in perfecting their drill movements and military structure.

Whether on the field or on the drill pad, we love watching our cadets take the initiative to excel! ✨ Texas Military Department

🌅Huge congratulations to Cadet Kayden Lee Hand! Kayden joined Texas ChalleNGe Academy to become a better, more mature version of himself and secure his high school diploma. Overcoming the challenge of being away from home, he pushed himself daily—even working out with TL Ble to lose weight and grow as a leader.

Now, he's earned the credits needed to graduate with his diploma! Up next: getting to work and joining the U.S. Coast Guard within the first year after graduating from TCA. His advice for future cadets? "Take the program a day at a time and keep yourself busy."

Over halfway there and keeping the momentum high! 🔥

We want to extend a sincere thank you to Pastor Huffman with Open Arms for visiting with our cadets this past Monday! He brought an incredible message of perseverance, sharing his own life experiences and encouraging the cadets as they push through the remainder of the cycle.

Having strong, supportive leaders step in to speak wisdom into our cadets' lives gives them the fuel they need to finish strong. ✝️👏

Alumni Spotlight: Schaffer! 🎓⚡

Today, we are proud to highlight TCA alumnus Schaffer! Driven by a love for challenges and a desire to jump-start a military-style pathway, Schaffer came to TCA determined to push himself and earn his high school diploma.

Thanks to his hard work, Schaffer earned that diploma, opening doors to bigger and better opportunities. Today, he’s taking on an exciting new career challenge as an electrician apprentice! He’s diving headfirst into mastering the trade, learning the ropes, and building a rewarding skill set.

Schaffer’s advice to his younger self: "Don't worry about the small stuff, and don't let people get into your head so bad. Trust that the process will go smoothly."

His message to current and future cadets:
"Listen, pick a good group of friends, and tackle one day at a time and don't get overwhelmed looking at the bigger picture."

Join us in celebrating Schaffer's hard work, determination, and success as he builds his career! Keep shining bright, Schaffer! 👏⚡

Celebrating progress inside and outside the classroom! 📚🎖️

Yesterday’s awards ceremony was filled with milestones worth shouting about! We recognized cadets who took major strides toward their future by earning essential high school diploma credits, while officially welcoming a new group of cadet Squad Leaders into their command roles.

To top it all off, we celebrated our October birthdays with well-earned recognition (and pushups)! 🎂💪

Your vote is your voice! 🗳️✨

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Rebecka LaCourse from the Colorado County Elections Department for visiting our cadets last week!

Rebecka spoke about the importance of civic duty, active citizenship, and walked our older cadets through how they can register to vote. Empowering the next generation of leaders starts with understanding the power of participating in our democracy. 💡

Thank you, Rebecka, for taking the time to educate and inspire our future leaders! 🙌
