Mrs. Laurie’s pet turtles visited us on Wednesday. We learned about caring for a pet turtle, what they eat, and how they exercise and interact as pets.
One of my favorite things about sharing my pet turtles is answering the children’s questions and seeing how creative their minds are. My favorite question this time was “What kinds of toys do they play with?”. I explained that turtles love to climb on items and hide, so they have a hollowed out tree trunk that they can climb on or hide inside. They love to dig in their dirt and swim in their water. My Russian Tortoise has a ball with holes that we can put lettuce in for him to interact with. What a great question from a student! 🩷🐢

A very special “Thank You” to our parents who dedicated their time to make this week special for the teachers. Thank you Alicea for decorating our lounge in preparation for our Teacher Luncheon tomorrow- you’ve created a beautiful space to celebrate our teachers! 😘 And “Thank You” Jamie for creating the name tags for our teacher’s gift baskets- your time and creativity is much appreciated! 😘

We 💜🩵🩷 our Beacon teachers! This is our teacher appreciation week at Beacon! We’ve had fun making flavored lemonade drinks, and gifted the teachers with a CFA gift card and Beacon t-shirts ( which we plan to wear tomorrow). Today is breakfast day ( chicken biscuits). Here are some pictures of our fun so far!!

Our friends wore black and white today as we learned about how zebras use camouflage techniques for protection. We also discussed what other animals are also white & black such as pandas, cats, dogs, and more!

Our Teacher Appreciation week begins tomorrow! Please bring in a gift item to place in our staff baskets…parents can bring items throughout the week to fill the baskets by Friday. Teacher favorites lists were provided via a link in the May newsletter.
