Asalamualaikum! As we continue through Ramadan, we set our intentions once more to ask for Allah’s mercy with a sincere heart. Every week we present one hadith and one dua, each followed by a brief explanation to direct our worship and thought.
📜 Hadith of the Week
“Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.”
Source: Sahih al‑Bukhari 38; also recorded in Sahih Muslim 760.
Meaning: This hadith shows the strength of the fast when it is held with iman (true belief) and with ihtisab (seeking reward from Allah alone), that is, with the firm belief that only Allah will reward it. Ramadan is not only a period in which certain acts are avoided, but it is also a door to full forgiveness, reminding us that Allah’s mercy reaches every believer who turns to Him in hope.
🤲 Dua of the Week
Arabic: ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ
Transliteration: Dhahaba al‑ẓama’u, wabtallati al‑‘urūq, wa thabata al‑ajr in shā’ Allāh.
Translation: “The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is assured, if Allah wills.”
Source: Sunan Abi Dawud 2357, narrated by Ibn Umar (ra), graded hasan (sound) by al‑Albani.
Meaning: This is an authentic dua to say after breaking your fast. It voices the ease that arrives with iftar, and it voices the hope that Allah accepts the fast. It shows thankfulness and trust in Allah’s promise of reward.
