The Imaginary Island: Beyond Geography, Friday, session 3
With Catherine Swanson!
We did it! Finally! You've been asking about it for years and we're happy to say that The Imaginary Island Puzzle is back for sale on our website--mandalaclassroom.com. For those of you that don't know, it's a non-interlocking puzzle that the students use to create islands and continents using pieces that portray the land and water forms they learned in class. 84 pieces, 3" x 3", printed on a polystyrene solid base.
The LE digital packet is done! Just have to get it on the website. Even more pages than UE. Still $45. Check Tuesday or Wednesday. Or if you get our newsletter, it will inform you.
Thanks, everyone. Stay safe.
It's done and on the website! UE Digital Work Packet. 33 pages. Now on to creating the LE packet.......
Hey all! We are almost done completing a digital packet for UE teachers. It will have about a month's worth of a sampling of our materials--digitally. Lit for Grammar, Tune Ups, Study of a Photograph and Painting, some Spanish Analyze and Symbolize and a new material--Brain Food. We'll post here again when it's on the website. Stay well. Stay apart. :)
We're back on Facebook to let you know we have a
brand new website! Check it out. Also, we'll be at the MEPI conference, Kiawah Island, South Carolina the weekend of March 1st and 2nd. Come see us.

The third years in lower elementary recently enjoyed playing the Grammar Game as a review of the functions of the parts of speech.
From the Mandala Classroom Resources website: The game "allows students to practice their knowledge of the nine parts of speech while creating their own sentences in common speech patterns. Using a magnetic game board and magnetic grammar symbol tiles, students build on each others' sentences to try to use up all of the game tiles and fill the board. Teachers can adjust the challenge by beginning with the first grammar symbols learned and then adding more. Older students can be challenged by restricting the use of more common adjectives, nouns, and adverbs, using a Thesaurus."

Using the Mandala Classroom Resources Study of a Painting work, young children can learn about various types of art and different ways of painting. They love it.
Lower elementary students recently finished their study of a painting project. Here are a few pictures of them painting and then their finished products.

After answering the questions using the Mandala Study of a Drawing program, sixth grade students made pencil or pen and ink versions of the drawings they chose. One point of emphasis is value, which you will notice in the pencil drawings. Drawing really speaks to the older art students.
