🚌 Bus Stop Safety

Getting to school safely starts before students ever step on the bus. 🚌

Help students build safe bus stop habits by arriving a few minutes early, staying back from the curb, listening for the driver’s signal before crossing, and keeping the bus stop calm and orderly.

A few simple routines can make a big difference in keeping everyone safe on the way to school.

🏠 When to Stay Home

Healthy students learn best — and sometimes the healthiest choice is a day at home to rest and recover. ❤️

As a reminder, students should be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and vomiting/diarrhea-free for 24 hours following the last episode before returning to school. Students should also be feeling well enough to participate in a productive school day.

When illness requires treatment, families should follow their healthcare provider’s guidance regarding when it is appropriate to return.

Students can use Safe2HelpIL to share concerns involving bullying, threats, safety, or someone's well-being. Tips can be submitted by phone, text, or online.

Encouraging students to ask for help — for themselves or someone else — is an important part of building a safe and supportive school community.
